The hole goes downward. In tightening it if it moves slightly back it won't affect the running characteristics.

This is (as with most things) a poin of argument. The absolute best  position, from some perspectives, is something like 80 deg from the flow direction. But putting is straight down works about as well most of the time, and is probably better from other perspectives. It's not at all critical - I have seen them with the hole *up* that ran just fine.

I install mine with the hole aligned to the centerline of the venturi- i.e. angled to the rear of the engine a tad instead of straight down and parrallel to the cylinder centerline. I have 3 of them and have flown them on the 3
" usual suspects".
Flite Streaks, Ringmasters, SkyRay 35.  All ran fine - both with old school perfect Wedge tanks and stock venting, or plastic tank with clunk pick-up and muffler pressure.
