Hi Randy,
How long ago, and where, did you take that picture of Walt??
Bill <><
-
Probably at Sepulveda Basin. Stunt News featured a bunch of Walt's work a few years ago - - Fabulous "eye candy" !
-
Dig the flame job on his '57 Chevy too...
-
This is much better.. I have never appreciated crash pictures, and generally ignore them.
-
here's another of my favorites the cockpit detail is the best i ever seen
-
Bill,
I think Greg Howie took the picture. I have a very cool picture of Walt's T-Bird, but I can seem to find it.

Here is the Sting Ray that I took to the 69 nats in Philly. Bill W. and Jim Kostecky in the background. The red hat belongs to Bob Gieske.
My model never looked so good...I can almost see a grin on the face of my stunters intake...as it is being so loveling held by Miss Model Aviation. What a beautiful young lady.
-
That picture is reeeeeeeeeeeeeally fuzzy. Sorry, let me try a vertical?
Looks like I am going to have to take my slides down to my photo store and have them put onto a disc.
My skills with this Epson CX 7800 suckuth! Fuzzy and cuts off wing tips f~

My vote goes to Steve Wooley's Argus. It was voted the "Most Beautiful Stunt Plane in the World" at the 1960 World Championships.
My version which was color matched to a piece of the original:
-
Dig the flame job on his '57 Chevy too...
That's not just any old '57 either.. It's a Nomad. Something like 7,000 built.. I've owned mine since 1968..

What a beautiful body line...What rudder? **) Plus one would never have to worry about skinnin' off the the tip of the rudder on an inverted improto' landing!! :X
Yes that is a beautiful model.
-
now that i think about it,it kinda looks like a Mohawk for planes

**) Take a look at the the Wooleyman's color for that stunt job. That color looks more like it belongs on a double dipped Mint ice cream cone, instead of a stunt model.
Perhaps the "COOL MINT COLOR" was chosen to take the judges minds off the 110 degree heat radiating off the hot asphalt run way tarmac.
Humm?
An interesting gamesmanship plan ploy....I noticed that Don Bamrick also used those minty-wooley-wuzzie colored paint for his beautiful models...
Hey....
Any thing from bold Panty-pink to grabber green..whatever punches your stuntgrunt buttons n' bows.
Speaking of Panty Pink! Waaaaaay back...in the early days, one of our most celebrated ICONs of stunt...built this BEAUTIFUL HOT DAY-GLOW HOT RED NEON stunter. One day I was driving down 1-5 toward Southcenter when I looked over to the Space Center Parking lot and saw this flash of NEON RED stunter goin' round n round..From that distance...one could not make out the airplane or the flyer--BUT THAT NEON FLASH OF RED...WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE.
However...with in less than a few months...his AWESOME HOT RED...was not LIGHT PROOF and had faded to a WUZZIE-PANTY PINK COLOR! However being the fun competitior that he is...he took all the razzzin n' jazzin...and continued his winning ways.
Talk about gettin' even.
