My twins
« on: October 12, 2006, 08:39:03 AM »
On page 5 of the forum are picture under "posting for gerry boyd" these are pictures of my twins and for some reason the detail sent in did not end up included so for anyone interested here it is. The twin with the not realistic camouflage is a semi scale of a Martin 167 and is powered by 2 Cox TD.049s and flys well, it will do a number of the stunts from the pattern and is a stable flyer on 40ft lines. I built a second one with the nose extended 1" to allow for bal;ancing with only 1/2 oz. of lead in the hollowed front section of the nose.
The other twin shown is a semi scale of a Martin Mercator and is powered by 2 OS .15s it has only been flown once and while it was very stable in the air on 60 ft. lines The engines were not tuned  right and therefore I don't know what stunts it is capable of .
Both planes have only minor changes from scale to improve the flying characteristics they are from my plans and my building method. Plan copies are available at printing cost.
