Online Stunt Camp

So, since there is not going to be an in-person stunt camp this year in the Carolinas, I've posted a couple of videos for the David Shorts contest, linked below.  Suggestions for improvement?  Thanks!

This may break certain norms, but I've found it quite informative on the quality of my judging. When judging video you can look at the scores for different maneuvers, then go back and double check them to see the consistency of your scores. Although often frustrating, I believe this can produce a more consistent criteria as a judge improvement method.

Just judging my own flights for a few months I may look at a single maneuver across multiple flights, then go back through only watching verticle eights, for example, and see if my scoring still holds up. I'm relieved that frequently it does, but occasionally I'll find need for improvement.

Thanks for arranging and scoring the contest.  I'll be looking at Tim Wescott's winning flights.  The format of the contest works well.  I'll continue to practice my flying.

Good idea.  I've attended a couple of judging clinics.  Have to say I learned a whole lot.  First thing learned, I would make a terrible judge!  But now I know what do concentrate on while flying.  Long ago, I had a couple video tapes (remember those? )  Big Art Adamison on flying rte pattern, and another one (can't remember who made it) which also explained the usual "pitfalls"---and I was guilty of most of them.  The clinics and tapes helped me a lot.  I would like to see more "real time" stunt clinics...maybe soon when we can once again get close enough to one another to do things like that.

I have that Big Art video too. I also enjoy a judging video that Windy published, but it was someone else doing all the explaining. We had a stunt clinic scheduled a couple years ago, but wind and heat turned it mostly into an airplane tuning clinic.

Yes.  I'm in Oregon.  Our flying field is privately owned, so we are not bound by edicts from Salem.  However, our club members agreed to suspend flying, except for keeping super-wide distances, and using a stooge for takeoff.  I've decided to go one step further and avoid flying altogether ... for now.
