I want to thank the whole St Louis crowd for treating me like one of their own from start to finish. Special thanks to James and Beth Mills for picking me up at the airport on Friday and providing me with a great place to stay. I felt like family from start to finish. Beth's parents made sure I had everything and more that I could possibly need. Ben Mills has improved a lot!!! For the contest our forum host, Robert Storick was kind enough to trust me with his 30 day build Nats Crossfire. The plane flew as good or better than anything I had ever flown before. It flew on rails and tuned on a dime. It was a very easy plane to get into!!!! Line tension was great everywhere. I flew 2 practice flights on it on Saturday and when I arrived on Sunday Robert had it ready to go and got me right up on a warm-up flight. I flew my first pattern with that warm-up flight. On my first official I scored a 493 with zero appearance points on only my 4th flight on the plane. My second flight I scored a 518.5 and if you added appearance points I would have been right in the middle of the pack with only 5 flights on the plane. I have to add the one of the judges gave me a 40 for my landing (37 from the other) which was only the second time in my life that I had a judge give me a 40 on landing. NOT BAD FOR 5 FLIGHTS!!!! This plane weighed 58oz at the weigh in and certainly helped convince me that LIGHT AIRPLANES CAN FLY THANK YOU ROBERT FOR TRUSTING ME WITH YOUR PLANE!!! Thanks also to Crist Rigotti for letting me fly your plane with the active timer on it It was a unique setup for sure and something that we will see more of in the future. Lastly I need to thank Dan McEntee for taking me back to the airport after we were done and making sure I got there on time.
