Title: Old Veco 29
Post by: Ferenc Zámolyi on August 25, 2020, 02:25:04 PM
Gentlemen, a friend of mine, engine collector, laid his hands on an old Veco 29 engine that he intends to repair for display. It came with a strange device attached, which I guess is some kind of timer for free flight. He asked me to try and find out more about the device.
Could any of you old hands shed some light on the matter? I know it's not stunt and I apologize, but didn't know where to ask.

Timer tank for freeflight

Yes, FF timer tank. Knurled tube is spring loaded, pull up and it locks in place. Pickup can then draw fuel from the upper and lower parts of the tank. When ready to launch, the lever allows the knurled tube to snap down, sealing off the upper tank.

BTW- there should also be an aluminum disk and gasket to seal the rear of the tank.

Gentlemen, thanks for your replies.
Norm, your explanation is exactly what I needed. It confirmed my guess and clarified the working of the device. Thanks again!
