Old Time and Classic at the Nats...
« on: October 24, 2012, 04:16:32 AM »
...Will be canceled if Dave does not get a volunteer to run these two events. He has been asking for a while and nobody seems to want to step up. I know that a lot of you love these events so don't let them die. If it gets canceled once, it might be hard to get it started back up again.

Contact Dave or even me if you want the job, I will make sure he gets the message.

Act fast, if he does not have an ED for these two events by THIS SATURDAY, October 27, it WILL be canceled!!!!

I feel your pain Bob! After posting this to the forum I told Dave that I would run the events if nobody else would because I hated to see them canceled. I asked him not to announce that I was running the two events because I wanted somebody else to step up to the plate. Thank you and Buddy for volunteering too. I am sure between the three of us we can get it done. I would, however, like to see someone who flies these events give a little back and run it for one year. Like you said it is only one day!!!!!

It should be noted that both Bob and Buddy have passable Classic entries...the fact that they are willing to help rather than fly says a lot.

Have fun!

If I were old enough to possess a CD license, I would have been interested in volunteering myself.  People have been giving and sending me stuff pretty much since I got started flying CL, so it's becoming time for me to give back to the hobby.

What exactly does it take to be qualified and to get the job done?

(Sorry, I don't see how I could be present there)
I built a Blue Pants as a kid. Wish I still had it. Might even learn to fly it.

I am planning to attend the Nats as an spectator. I have a CD AMA, and have CD'ed many local RC/CL contests but totally inexperienced at a Nats level competition. I will try and help if it is going to be a cancelled event.

Dave posted on SSW that someone has stepped up to run the event. They may still need some help...

One doesn't need a CD license to act as ED.  I held that job for years for the "Western Front WWI" meet in CA.

Floyd is correct.  I ran Nats Old Time & Classic three years in a row, 2006-'07-'08....plus judged P.A. the rest of those weeks, as an AMA Leader Member.

Glad to see we had others step up to handle the chores next year.
