Trying to get a little practice in....
« on: October 30, 2017, 05:39:26 PM »
Today was either an off day, or my frame of reference for speed is way off. I went out to a little dirt lot by my work after I clocked out to get a little practice. Had some minor engine issues. New venturi and NVA so, nothing special. Just getting it to run consistently. That took longer than I wanted. Got it going, didn't tach it. Just started flying. I kept losing tension in any maneuver. Anything. That little devil on my shoulder (Tim Wescott) said time the laps. Timed it with my phone. 6.5 sec laps. Ugh! Anything over 2.5 sec feels ungodly slow still to me. I'm gonna have a hard time getting used to stunt!

Pictured is my stooge and private after work practice area.

I hope you have pantyhose or such over the intake for a filter.  I learned to fly on a dirt circle in my backyard.

Russell,
Surely you don't want him to ruin his pantyhose.  LOL

Well as it turns out, they sell that stuff at the dollar store, so mine stays safely locked away in the closet!

I do in fact use protection at this site. It's not as tidy as our contest spot. Notice the spray bar location difference. Someone had drilled the case for a center type spray bar. It was a larger hole, like an enya NVA. So there was a .260 venturi. It sucked air around the case so bad, it ran with my thumb over the venturi. I JB weld filled the added holes, installed a super tigre venturi and NVA in the pinch bolt hole (like a normal set up). It now runs reasonably. Just need to tach it, see what's possible and tune from there.
