Here is why I backed out. You are reluctant to put a price on the engines. The engines are yours, you should know what you want for them. Here is how I figure it out when I sell.

How old are they --- How much use have they had --- Am I the only owner --- How much did I pay for them --- What condition are they in now. All things considered I will deduct 30% to 60% of their initial value. I then offer them at this price. No haggling no nothing, one price that's it. I am a MECA member, I am bound by a different set of rules. I have to describe the engine to you stating anything that is wrong with it. I also have to classify that engine for you (NIB down to P)

I have bought and sold many engines over the years and frankly this is the first time I have run into a problem over the price. I am not totally out of this yet. If you figure a price from what I have givin you let me know. I will give you a simple yes or no answer.

If the .35 is the R/C version of an "S", somebody might want it for a Classic stunter, maybe because they had one on that stunter way back when. So maybe somebody might go $100 for that. I don't think anybody really seriously collects OS engines, and if you wanted one to use, about any new OS R/C engine would be better, plus parts are available. I think you might get $100 each for them, if you're lucky. Best bet is eBay, of course, but it's more hassle.

That could be a Fox "Falcon" .60. It was the last of the .59's, and probably had the same bore and stroke. It wouldn't be the first time that Duke "added displacement" with a set of steel stamps. The muffler plainly says "Tatone" on it. I would expect the engine would at least say "Fox" on it, but maybe would say "Falcon" instead. H^^ Steve

Haven't you ever wanted to sell something not wanting to cheat the other guy or yourself? I sold an old fishing rod at a garage sale for nearly nothing and later found out that it was antique enough that it should have brought a good deal more than I got. The guy I sold it to may not have known its value either. There are often publications that document values for many types of things. Maybe someone could give direction on where to find general values of old engines.

It can give you an idea what similar items have gone for recently, but it only goes back a short time. Of course the same item can go for completely different prices on different days.

Even if you don't see them in Ebay "Completed items", start watching OS engines in "Toys and Hobbies" RC and they are sure to come up and give you an idea. I've found there are a fair number of well heeled, honest Japanese collectors who don't have a problem paying in US funds.

The mystery Fox is a Fox 59, 1962 or later. It will say "Fox" under the muffler strap. Lok at the venturi where it intersects the crankcase; it is squarish integral with the case (the throttle is dropped in and isn't a Fox throttle). 1957 and earlier would be round. The Falcon 60 (really a 59) had a round venturi with a drop in throttle or CL venturi stack.

Also:
The bottom of the 59 mounts are 3/16" higher than the shaft centerline; the Falcon's are on centerline.

The 59s bypass extends below the mounts; the Falcon's stops at the top of the mount. If you ever mounted a 59, you were probably ticked off the left mount had to be ground out to clear the bypass and then REALLY ticked off to find the spinner ring didn't line up with the engine.

The 59 had 2 mount holes per side with a thin web between them; theFalcon had 3 holes per side and the mounts were a constant thickness. The dual mount pattern (also found on the Eagle 60s) allowed the Fox to fit a competitor's mount pattern, Supertigre I think.

The 59 Just says Fox 59 on the bypass; the Falcon says Falcon, has a US flag, and Made in USA on the bypass.
