While looking over my old picture I ran across this picture of Al Rabe being presented with the first place trophy at our contest in 1972. His "Seafury" was the airplane that year. I don't remember everyone that was there but I remember Lew McFarland and his "Shark" was there. It was my first contest to judge stunt. We always had a "Miss Midstates" (a student from Ball State) to hand out the awards. Some years the mayor would show up to present the trophies. In those days that week end was a big deal in Muncie, we had hundreds of people on the bleachers and lined around the park. We flew stunt, scale, goodyear and rat racing. Al, you have a big smile on your face, hummmmmmmm. enjoy.

Howard, is that you with the clipboard?

Cool pic, thanks for sharing. I like the pop trailer in the background, apparently enough interest back in the day that someone thought having it there was worthwhile. Wish we could get to get back to that. ;D

Howard, I'm sorry I left out combat, we flew that in the grass area just east of the paved circles. We had enough club members in those days to man all the events we ran.
Pepsi Cola would set up with their trailer and run the concession for the week end. And they gave our club a percentage of the profits.
That is I with the clipboard, 27 yrs old and life by the tail. As the song goes,"those, were, the good old days". And I enjoy the contests of today and the friends I've made along the way.
Blessings
