This past Friday 5 of us a bit younger than dirt got together at the area along the Columbia river to have some fun. The area we chose is near the site of the pits for the annual hydro races on the Columbia River in an area park. I didn't calculate the overall years of experience in CL, but the average age must be near 60+, give or take.
The day was filled with laughter, flying and the bonding of new friends. One of the "new guys" flew a self designed electric plane, a real cutie! Slack lines and a hand held R/C transmitter caused an early demise, but the plane was unique and has real potential. another of the guys was returning to CL after a 40 year hiatis and was suddenly just a kid again as he worked through some teething problems. Carl actually flew many combat type of planes and then in an unlikely moment actually flew a plane that had wheels! Dave as usual had as much fun as one can have and still be legal, while I managed the first flights of 2010 without any damage to either of the planes I brought along.
While none of us will ever be a champ I doubt if anyone has as muich fun as we did Friday. Any Eastern Washington lurkers out there? Come on in and join the fun!

Isn't that what it's supposed to be about. Haven't got your carrier rig in the air yet. Been to wet and don't have the correct lines yet. Keep on keeping. By the way great pictures. H^^

You guys are blessed. I fly by myself mostly, because there just aren't any other controliners in the area. I have found as I get older, I still enjoy the same things I did when I was a kid. I am a lifer at two things at least, flying models, and riding motor cycles. Playing guitar off and on. Love the pictures, and glad to see you guys out having a good time. Does my heart good. I am blessed also to have a wife of 51 years that is my greatest supporter.

Wow Jim, I could have written this, except my wife and I have been together 32 years (second marriage for both and it is blessed).

Guess I'm in the middle. Will reach 43rd. in less than two weeks. Got married six weeks after we met.
Thought for a second that we were getting off topic, but I guess we're not. 8) ::) H^^

My wife of 53 years nags me! On Sunday morning she says "looks like good weather, so why don't you go flying?" (maybe she just wants me to get out of her way for a while?)
