The curiousity has gotten to me so I finally have to break down and ask, does anyone here know who "gatafish" is on Ebay? I've been watching (and drooling at many) ads from this person for a few years now. Whoever it is seems to have a literal bottomless pit of way cool C/L engines and related items, all in perfect or new condition, and with many being quite rare. I've always wondered who it is because I've seen a lot of really nice stuff offered and sold, been blown away many times by the "cool factor", and it just never seems to stop coming from this seller. He's a guy from Ohio that buys up modeler estates, and then resells them. He came into my area and bought up the life long collection of a dear old friend of mine, who was fighting Alzheimer's and his daughter needed to move him back east to a nursing home where she lives. A local guy was handling the liquidation by listing the stuff on Craig's List, and He saw the add and made them an offer they couldn't refuse. I'm sure you have seen some of the stuff, lots of stuff going back into the fifties. The guy was a retired airline pilot and also owned a hobbhy shop at one time, and then dealt to friends and club members from his basement, so that will give you an idea of the depth and scope of what he had! I was bit miffed that some of his closest friends here didn't get a chance to obtain anything of his, and there was one F/F kit I had loaned him and had not gotten back from him. I contacted gatafish (forget his real name right now) and told him the story, and he was very cool about the whole thing, and located the kit for me. I had him hold it until he started listing some of the stuff and I was able to bid on and win a couple of old F/F kits that were kind of special to me. He told me he buys up estates, and was working on setting up an old fashioned hobby shop in a local specialty shopping district to sell stuff along with his eBay auctions. He only buys top notch new stuff, as you probably noticed from his auctions. He's a straight shooter and good to deal with. I just try to avoid viewing his stuff regularly because like you said, he ALWAYS has such neat stuff and I have to restrain myself!

I've dealt with him, always nice stuff and very easy to deal with. I had one item that was wrong, mixed up with another guy's purchase. Once we sorted it out the return and redelivery were amazingly fast. He's a good dealer.

I've bought a few items from him on the bay. Always good stuff.

I'm not doubting the integrity, I'm just curious who it actually is. They must not be on the forum?
Another seller I've noticed over time that has a very similar program is "rureelybob". I've just been curious about who these people are and whether they frequent the forums or not. Ebay doesn't let you ask some of these questions.

gatafish and rureelybob. Honest Ebay sellers. You can't go wrong dealing with either one.
Have dealt with both. They ship fast and will work with you if you don't do PayPal..

I think rureellybob is a member here, just can't remember who. I have gotten a lot of stuff from a guy who goes by the name skyboss and he does likewise, buys and sells estates. His real name is Mark Fineman I believe and is a noted free flight modeler. I think you will find most of these guys are real modelers, because they know what they are looking at when they buy and have a good idea of what will attract real lucrative interest. They make a few bucks, keep the stuff in circulation and have fun doing it and can keep some of the better stuff at almost no cost!

I am not real EBay proficient. I have tried typing these guys names into the search function but that does not take me to their pages. How do you find their listings in EBay?
Thanks
Mike

I have tried to keep a record of people I have bought from or sold to. Usually their name appears on the package, but it also appears on PayPal accounts. Almost all are great people, but I've helped eliminate a couple for a time for misinformation on an item. Usually get a thank you on some thing they didn't know what it was. But, I also think I should get a cut of some of the winning bids that make my bids look like I'm a miser. Haven't listed anything lately as the last items I listed it cost me.

I have done business with both sellers RUREELY and Gattafish good stuff.

Another fella (seller) that has some neat stuff is lavacahobby

gatafish is Dave Kauffman, Daves old time hobby shop. He was at Brodaks this year when I had a face to go with the name. I needed a spark plug for an Orwick engine and he just handed me one. Asked how much I owed and he told me don't worry bout it. He is out of Ohio and is a great guy to deal with on or off Ebay, as I have been buying from him for several years now. Don't ever be afraid to by from him. Thanks Dave from Steve Bittner, SB Performance SK16
