:! Guy's I have a gallon of 22% oil half castor half synthetic. To bring the castor content up to 22- 25 % how much castor (percentage wise) would I need to add ?

I'm not clear on what you want to do. If you bring your castor alone up to 22%, that is 11% synthetic, 11% + 11% castor = 33% total oil. I don't think that is what you mean. I've been running a Fox stunt 35 on Sig Champion 10% nitro, 20% oil, 50/50 synthetic, castor. Engine seems to like it, but that is contrary to the conventional wisdom.

When I was still using my iron piston Foxes regularly, I found that repeatable needle settings were just not readily available with less than 21-22 % total oil, by volume, at least not for a classic 4-2-4 stunt run. For Foxberg, I could get repeatability with a straight two cycle, but the usual 20% oil fuels for that event tended to allow the engines' piston to cylinder seal to wear out rapidly.
Meanwhile, Powermaster GMA 22%/ 10% half synthetic, half castor has been the base fuel I add castor to for the rare occasions when I do use an oldie iron motor. Adding four ounces of castor gives you a total oil content of 25%.

Guy's Thanks for the reply's. What I was looking for was a total oil content that would be safe for some old cast iron piston and liners, such as Fox, Mccoy, and Merco's .
I don't want to bring the oil content up to 22-25% total castor, just get it high enough to be safe in these older engines.
A total oil content of enough castor with some synthetic just to keep from getting a castor "gum up" in the engines is what I should have asked instead...

I feel 25% castor with 1% synthetic would be minimum for safe running of a McCoy or Fox, and that only after break in.
