It has been waiting on a custom muffler since standard ones didn't fit and I wanted an expansion-chamber type, not a chip type. I made a balsa pattern and one of my flying buddies, Mark, made it for me. I just need to add tip-weight and tighten the bolts and she is ready to go.

In case you forgot what she looked like...

Scott
Are you going to bring it out this Saturday?

Weather permitting. Will you alert the press so they can do a fake news article on it? ;D
-
Sure will
Will call channel 5 news later this morning. #^

Scott,
Talented you are and to have a friend make that muffler you designed is outstanding. I wish I knew Mark.
Any reason the exhaust is pointing up instead of down or directly to the side? I'm guessing you thought of your options.
Great looking model also. I really like different. H^^

Scott I cannot think of any other word to describe that except "cute". I really like that and think it will be a blast to watch fly. Good job.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Certain members of our club chided me for wasting so much time building this instead of my next Super-Zoot Stunt Ship. Oh well, now I have the world's one and only Goldfish!! (And that and a 5er will get me a Starbucks. Waa-hoo! Err, I guess they were right.)
I didn't want the exhaust blasting directly on the wing's leading edge, so pointed the muffler exhaust up. Not the best solution, but hopefully will work.
I was told that Mark brazed it instead of tigging since the AL is so thin. I didn't get a chance to talk to him much about it, so will have to - maybe this weekend.
-
Very cool!
-
I hopefully will take some video of it this Saturday.

Scott,
Will you have this at the NVCL contest in Sept.? Really want to see this baby fly. <=
-
Tom:
Our contest is Saturday, September 23. But I probably won't be flying the Goldfish in PA (I'd really get creamed by Tim then!)
Since I plan on flying it this weekend (just checked the forecast and it looks okay) it may not be in one piece by contest time...
-
Well, okay, it flew three times today. Sorta.
Carl says he'll post the videos. Unfortunately, the major news media never showed up. I think maybe Carl forgot to call them......since gee, I can't imagine why they would want to miss out on something like this ;D
Most important: it is still in one piece!

That was pretty entertaining to say the least! Personally, I'd s--- can that fox (Actually use it in the hurl) and switch to an FP.
Thanks for sharing, Jerry

Definitely one of the coolest things I've seen out there!

The video had me in stitches! There was a moment there where the Goldfish looked more like a Rhode Island Chicken running across the field. Funny stuff. Great to see it finally fly. Thanks for the vid!

It obviously needs to have a shorter bottom fin and tail wire so it can get enough angle of attack to take off. Also, once in the air, the rear grommet kept coming out and the rear leadout sliding back, messing up the controls. I made the adjustable lead-out slot pretty long and can see now that it doesn't need to be, so I'll fix it so the grommet won't come out. I think I'll leave the fin and wire alone as I sort of like the Rhode Island Chicken take-off.
These flights didn't have the third line attached. Next time out I'll hook that up and see if it will be a disaster or not trying to saber-dance.
I love the eyes! Especially with the motor running.
My flying buddies obviously do not think its a Walker Cup contender. Oh well.
-
Not a Walker cup contender, but should be loads of fun and entertaining. May have to build one or something similar. H^^

My mom's hobby is fish tanks. She's got some neat stuff. I showed her this plane and she said she might actually fly this one... lol

All it needs are wheels and an engine. What are you waiting for?
