Sorry, but yes. It's "Chubby's Checker". Designed by Pat Johnston for Tom Dixon, kitted by Tom Morris.
LA-46 tuned by Mr. HorsePower.
Tank by me.

Nice!
First truly interesting Profile I've seen in a long time! Looks like it should be a good flier. Has it been trimmed and flown yet?
I'm not usually very interested in profiles but this one might change that!
Wing area? Weight? Please!

Randy:
Not sure of the wing area, but it might be on Pat Johnston's plan list. 54 ounces.
Will fly for the first time tomorrow (weather permitting).

Beautiful finish! H^^
Great job with the checks around the cowling.
Wingspan?

Beautiful work there,congrats! PhillySkip

I think that the wingspan is about 54 inches.
After predicting nice weather all week for Saturday, now the weatherman is saying it's going to rain all day. So maybe it will get a chance to fly on Monday. Drat.
If it rains tomorrow I'll barricade myself in the shop and work on my Neptune or my Uber Hai. Neither being pukey profiles....

Scott,
Thanks for the info.
I will be very interested in hearing about the flights. Everyone else here will likely be interested also!
Best of luck with it!

How often did the D get replaced with a B model?
Chubby's Checker decided that he liked flying the pattern. I was still fooling with the needle valve so after 2 short-tank flights to make sure everything was working properly, I decided to do the pattern. The third was too fast with 5.07 lap times, but Chubby liked doing the pattern anyway. On the 4th flight he was doing 5.7 second lap times but talked me into it. A little stepping back during the consecutive loops and he was fine. 5th flight was 5.5, still a little too slow, but no problem. No hunting, no funny bubbles or baubles, and nice sharp turns. I think I'll keep this one! Thanks to Tom Dixon and Pat Johnston for such a nice flying design. I've made no changes from my bench trimming.

Good looking pair

Thanks Sparky!
The D has 349 flights on it. As of today the B has 5.

Nice P-51. Anything by P. Johnston is guaranteed to fly well. Pat likes dihedral, and so do I. Really dresses up any design, and has almost no effect on flying.
-
560 square inch wing for this one.
-
560? Thanks Walter. I was looking for my Pat Johnston plan listing, but couldn't find it, as I think it's (wing area) listed there.
If the weather cooperates I'll be flying it again today.
