We went out this past Monday and it was 102 in the shade, but with the breeze it did not feel that hot. (wind chill factor) LL~
Jim said we were getting tuned up for heat at the WKSI contest. f~

Well, Brother Dennis, it isn't the "official name", just one we have decided to use! LL~ LL~
This area does hold the official record for highest temp recorded in NC.

I had to switch to a short-sleeve shirt. It got up to 69 degrees today.
-
79 degrees and 23% relative humidity under a tree on the patio in Great Falls MT. Winds fairly calm at 10-15mph. We'll be here for another few weeks, then a trip home through the North West and back down to Central CA and 100 degrees + for the remainder of the summer.
Oh well;

108 In the shade? Tenth don't go there!
We just had a t-storm w91 mph winds go thru, now power is out but it is 25 deg cooler.
-
Wow, Howard, must be a heat wave in Bellevue. Over here in the hinterlands, it got all the way up to 59 and overcast. Gotta love summer in the Northwest.
-
Good news! At 8pm it's dropped to 102! LL~ LL~
Hey Randy! I don't know if we will see 59 degrees (even at night!) until October....... just what an old, overweight, worn out jock who has already had a heat stroke needs! LL~ LL~

At 4:58 PM it's 104 in Tucson.

For those that don't know ( I just found this out yesterday) that all over our great nation "all" official weather
temps are taken "in the shade" for uniform consistency.....never taken in direct sun. FWIW

Dennis sent their storm our way but forgot to include the rain!!!!! C'mon, bro', don't hog ALL the moisture! HB~>

Hey Will,Aint it past your bedtime again LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

It's going to be in the upper 80s in Northern Vermont. I guess I have no right to complain.

With the power out we couldn't send rain. Power back on after midnight & more rain, you get any of that?

Move to Las Cruces, Bill, and cool off. It's only 105F..

I recently bought a heater and an air conditioner. I locked them both in the same room and just let them fight it out.

Hi Brother Larry!
I would like to be able to move ANYWHERE that it doesn't take me over two hours to get to a place to fly.............. :'(
There are only two dedicated C/L areas left in NC, Huntersville (110 miles) and Winston Salem/Hobby Park (100 miles)................ :'(

Hey Bill; Hope you are feeling better. I have noticed since my open heart surgery that the heat is really bothering me a lot more than it use to. It has been three months since surgery, and I am hoping it wears off. Other than that, I feel better than I did 10 years ago. Seems like it anyway. We have been way over a 100 deg. for over a week. I do outside stuff early in the morning when it is only 80, but then the humidity is high also.
-
In Renton, WA today, it's around 73 deg. F., not raining, but overcast. You'd think it'd be perfect stunt weather, but it's dead calm. Wake turbulance is a dog killer, so not going flying until maybe later, if the wind picks up to 5mph.
The flying field is about 12 miles. VD~ Steve

I have a 30 mile trip to fly with unpredictable weather.

Speaking of flying sites, our "Melton Field" is long gone, replaced by a much needed mobile home business.. ;-(
Sad thing is, there are actually two wonderful flying sites, parking lots for our "Field of Dreams" high school football stadiums. These would be ideal, no obstructions, flat surfaces, and actually far enough from residential section to not have noise issues.
And, of course, these parking lots are off limits, signed to "Keep Out", while they lie idle almost all the time (except during games). I'm sure someone is quite concerned about liability..
Further still, adjacent to the stadium are athletic fields which would also make great places to fly a CL model.
One might get away with flying an electric model, at least for awhile, until our vigilant police force saw them.
The Field of Dreams is about 1.5 miles from my house, even closer than our Melton Field was.. ;-(

108...we almost consider that a "cold snap" here in Tucson at this time of year. Just have to learn to fly in the dark...it cools off then. y1

108* isn't considered cool anywhere, not even Pheonix.
-
In '60 or '61, we lived at Edwards AFB. Apparently, it was a fairly warm summer for there. It got up to 117, and stayed right at 115 for two weeks. S?P LL~ Steve

Went flying at 8 am this morning and it was already in the high 90's. After six flights I was soaked with sweat and had already drank 4 bottles of water. It is HOT!!!!

If it ever stops raining here in waterlogged Northwest, I might be able to enjoy some of the sunshine everyone else seems to be getting.

It is when you get several consecutive days over 115.
How would you know anyway!!!??

Lets see how much you like 95* and 110% humidity. Yes, I know it can't get to 110%, but it sure feels like it.

Well here in my part of the country, it is not bad. Saturday after a day of watching some grea combat competition, the Ford showed it was 105F. Today it cooled off to only 101F. The wind didn't come up until the final matches, then it was still called a slight breeze.
By the Saturday it was my orange juice, large coffee and about 8 bottles of water. Today it was juice, large coffee and only two bottles of water. Oh, I didn't mention the large fruit blenders from Burger King both days. T the restaurant Saturday evening I did drink a whole pitcher of iced tea . H^^

simple - don't fly in the shade !
-
Might as well be 105 degrees yesterday, and I'm putting down 220 pavers. No shade.
The sun was hot, while fading in and out, the only thing good that came out of it was the thoughts of a pusher prop, bi-plane, stunter.
Well, now I don't have to cut the grass that was in that small area.
The pusher stunter, it's on paper, did the 3-view earlier today.
I'm happy with my first draft, I won't change it.

Every body complaining about the heat. How many remember a Lake Charles NATS in which the motel was running cold water into the swimming pool so people could go swim or sit to stay cool. H^^
