Off topic RC Problem
« on: October 31, 2020, 06:43:59 PM »
Sorry gang, but I can’t seem to get a handle on posting on RC Groups. I think I have filled in all the blanks but then it kicks me back out. Anyone out there with a clue?

I’m trying to get the latest firmware update for my Tactic TTX850 transmitter and the website seems to be gone.

Tower sells the unit and when I sent them an e-mail they sent back information on how to set up the failsafe. Gee, thanks a lot!

Sorry for the “DARK SIDE” question! 🤭
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

Tactic is gone. Tower still seems to have some old Tactic stuff. Not the TTX850, though.

Are you hoping that somebody on rcgroups could give you a file for the update?

I put the question in the rcgroups Radios section.

Looks like others have asked before, and got no response, or just somebody wondering why.

Do you have an issue that an update should fix?

No real issues, just wanted to upgrade if possible.

What is the trick to posting. I tried several times and it didn’t work for me.

I have never had problems posting there since I joined years ago. Assuming I have a functioning computer and internet connection.

RC companies seem to assume everyone has a R/C transmitter to adjust and program controllers for e-motors.  Instructions say to "move sticks" up or down to program motor controller.  Well, how about e-stunt flyers without the R/C transmitter?

You could do it with a servo tester, but a better option is to get an ESC that either has some sort of programming card, or a PC adapter.

Every body that flies electric control-line should have a servo tester.  A super fancy one  is $17. It looks like this one will test timer output as well as provide an output signal to test/setup a speed controller.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Skyrc-Multi-Function-ESC-Program-Box-Progbox-PC-Link-Servo-Tester-US-SELLER/181878385392?hash=item2a58cbeaf0:g:~uYAAOSw5JJZjyv4

A cheaper one is $9 and can be used to test/setup a speed controller.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/HJ-Digital-Servo-Tester-ESC-Consistency-Tester-for-RC-Helicopter-Aircraft-Car/254374877988?hash=item3b39ec9b24:g:v1gAAOSwjYldrsQJ

I have several and use them all the time.  When setting up a new airplane I use one to test run the motor/ESC before I install the timer.  A great way to make sure motor direction of rotation is correct.  If I am having trouble I can test the ESC separate from the timer to figure out if the ESC or timer is at fault.

Larry, the firmware update you're looking for may be on this site:  http://gofirmware.com/content/tactic-ttx850-firmware

I can access the site on my I-pad, but not my pc. Strange.

Stranger still, it doesn’t seem to actually have the file anywhere. No matter what button I push, something else comes up.

Larry, I googled  tactic ttx850 firmware update  and it took me to a site with a widget in the upper right-hand corner with a red dot in it.  I clicked on it and it took me to a "Allow download / Block download" option box.  When I clicked on the "Allow download" option, it took me to the URL I listed. It should be on that site somewhere -- I hope.  Good luck.

I really appreciate the effort, but it seems to be a fake website that pulls you in by grabbing whatever you are looking for and then tries to sell you something else. Very fancy and clearly shows the files I want and a download button, but then it goes somewhere else.  R%%%%  VD~  ~^  mw~  LL~  y1

At least if the files I want are there it is a mystery to me why hitting download gets me some graphics program.

If someone can figure out the puzzle, please download the files and send them to me directly. Best of luck!  H^^

Sadly, I no longer have a choice. My balance and reaction time are shot and CL flying has gotten downright dangerous.

👎😥😥

Dang, 65 years of practice shot to heck! At least I have a wall of trophies and a 500+ scoresheet to show for it. Plus a noted design or three. 😃
