Off Topic: Rare Bear pilot is C/L modeler
« on: June 08, 2008, 03:01:07 PM »
Here is John Penney, 2007 Unlimited National Champion in Rod Lewis's Rare Bear, while in the Air Force Academy.

Ironic he was a AF pilot and modeled a Mustang (Looks like a TF 1/12th P-51D Sharp Shooter kit), and is most publicly famous for racing a Grumman Bearcat...

Found in the April, 1968 MAN.

Chris...

Bear Cats rule..
I was a young jr. high kid in DesMoines Iowa....when I saw up close and personal...and even touched the airplanes rudder and elevators with my own bare little paws...until the really nice Blue Angel Captain walked over and helped me up onto the wing to get a closer look into that cockpit.
WOW! Nothing sounds quite like that team of Blue Angel Bear Cats...in flight.
Opps...that really dates me....huh? LL~ LL~ H^^ ~^

Is that a "Polly" hand launched glider in the background?
