I got flipped off by Keith once and it was an honor.
We were living in NYC and had friends in town. Meg performed 4 night a week in a nightclub called 4D. We were in a taxi heading to the Westside and we pulled next to another cab and there sat Keith and Patty Hansen. He was on the right side back of his cab and I was on left side back in my cab. I told my friends to look over. There he was right next to me. He grinned as only Keith could and very gently gave us all the middle finger.  I will always remember that skull ring. There was no malice or hate behind the bird. I would have been disappointed had he waved.
The only bird I received that I was honored to get.

Shug, your story brought a tear to my eye and envy to my heart.  Rock on my friend.

Larry, the man just turned 75.  Why are you posting a pic from 1968 when he was 25?

When I listen to Keith Richards or Ozzy Osbourne talk, I need to get an interpreter to understand what in the Hell they are saying.  In Ozzy's case, every other word is the F word so not to hard to follow him.

Not necessarily "off topic." One of their earliest hits was a cover of Chuck Berry's "Round and Around." Omen? And sax player Bobby Keys reportedly tried to get Keith interested in RC flying around where Keith lives in Connecticut. I can highly recommend Keith's autobiography "Life," very little about the Stones, mostly his life and interests outside the band. He is a far more complex and interesting person than many appear to think.

Ever the fan, I will be seeing Keith and his band at Levi Stadium on May 19, 2019. First time I saw them was at Altamont in 1969. A memorable show.

Speaking of rockers with model habits, Rod Stewart is a lifelong model train nut, has a huge layout in his house in LA. Carries a scenery decorating kit for HO buildings on tour with him. His book, oddly enough titled "Rod," is also an excellent read. He is more proud of being on cover of Model Railroader twice than being on cover of Rolling Stone.

Richards didn't need makeup for his bit in "Pirates."

My cousin Silas (world famous artist) was selling a brownstone on 22nd st in NYC. Silas is an avid R/C guy. Mick Jagger comes to view the property. While Silas was showing Jagger the home they step into his workshop. He had all of his finished projects suspended from the ceiling, and stuff he was building on the bench. Jagger then begins to tell Silas that he loves that stuff as well. They talked model airplanes for hours. Jagger didn't buy the home.... But I think they talked further about going flying sometime. Now who would have thought a guy with Jagger's persona would like model airplanes? Cheers,PhillySkip

Great picture. Where did you find that?
Roy Orbison was an avid RC flyer. In fact, he was flying the morning he passed from a heart attack.

I think he flew Stunt when his kids burned the house down with aerosol Aero Gloss lighting off by the pilot in the basement.
