Not necessarily "off topic." One of their earliest hits was a cover of Chuck Berry's "Round and Around." Omen? And sax player Bobby Keys reportedly tried to get Keith interested in RC flying around where Keith lives in Connecticut. I can highly recommend Keith's autobiography "Life," very little about the Stones, mostly his life and interests outside the band. He is a far more complex and interesting person than many appear to think.
Ever the fan, I will be seeing Keith and his band at Levi Stadium on May 19, 2019. First time I saw them was at Altamont in 1969. A memorable show.
Speaking of rockers with model habits, Rod Stewart is a lifelong model train nut, has a huge layout in his house in LA. Carries a scenery decorating kit for HO buildings on tour with him. His book, oddly enough titled "Rod," is also an excellent read. He is more proud of being on cover of Model Railroader twice than being on cover of Rolling Stone.
