Could be the first selfy. Taken with a Kodak Brownie in 1966.

Not a chance, Van Eyck has you beat by about 600 years:

If you want to limit it to photographs. 1839:

But arguably, it's more like 10,000 years:

None of the above was taken by the person in the photo. So, yes chance.

I am not sure why you say that, Van Eyck in a mirror, Cornelius with a remote release, hands by the guy holding his hand against the wall and spitting paint out at it.
Self-portraits have been a part of art since it was possible to do it.

p.s. If you want to limit to hand-held selfies with a snapshot camera, this is about 120 years old, along with an example of others doing it:

Taking a self portrait into a mirror has been around a while. I seem to recall seeing photos of Jackie Kennedy, before she was married, that she took with a 35mm camera shooting into a full length mirror. That would have been in the 50's at least? I think it was her. It wasn't about selfies necessarily, but was about her early years before marrying. I think she did some modeling and photography work. Others may have practiced this also, especially the artsie photographers in the 50's.
Type at you later,

Perry Maybe the oldest living selfy? Maybe not but still a fun topic, thanks for posting.
I wonder when the first cell phone selfy was taken.

I see a lot of photo shopping going on in those other photo's. Kinda like the photos of ghosts and UFO's.

I took a 35mm selfie in a mirror back in 1955. Wearing my slick military uniform with all my medals and such.
