Leo.  You and I will be at the top of the "old guys" list at the Regionals.  I don't know of anyone in the immediate area who can come close!

My memory  (such as it is) , tells me that Leo and I are about equal.  And also I seem to remember that we both have the same birthday or only one or two days apart. I'll be there again . Keith Varley

Leo,
Make sure you get lot's of photos of Richard and Art, Bill, Geoff and any of those other NW Fireball guys. I hope someone flys the bus. It's a good flyer.

I will be over, so the eastern WA contingent will be represented, I am sure Todd Ryan will be there racing. Dave Miller I think is going. of course Pat Johnston will be there. I hope to get there thursday night maybe early enough to help with some setup.

Randy is way more entertaining to watch fly than Mark, IMO.  y1 Mark has never caught his lines on the drawstrings of his Arctic Parka, then been chased around the circle center by Danny Dirt with his hugemongus lockback knife,  flashing in the sun. Well, ok, attempting to reflect feeble light rays into Randy's eyes...or cut the wayward drawstrings (or lines?)...whatever. Mark's model has never just barely kissed the ground (his crashes are more substantial?), blown the blades off, but returned to the air, only to slowly disintigrate in mid-air, as the engine howled its mournful tune. Yessir, most folks in the know will stop to watch Mark's progress, but everyone pays attention when Mr. Powell is on deck, flying one of his beautiful creations...    H^^ Steve

Mark, I'm heading down sometime fri. I have 2 of Joe's carrier planes to give to Pat. He is going to take them to Brodak's for Joe. If they survive me flying them at Regionals. Also picking up my Strega ARF from Gerald Schamp. Might even get in a Stunt flight and a slow combat flight or two. Will be camping in the bubble trailer. Dave

See you all this weekend. I will not be flying but will be taking pictures all weekend. Looking forward to seeing everyone and will be on my best behavor. I know that will remain to be seen. I may have two of my piers there that fly the wrong way I hope. I am giving away a set of plans for the grinder and the Arctic Fox for the prize table, and trying to get into some kind of trouble. Flash!

Latest weather report for Eugene. Rain Friday, Rain Saturday and Showers on Sunday.  Of course, these same guys said it would be partly cloudy all weekend without a drop of rain, so take it for what it's worth (that is to say, nothing).

Well, it's fun and I didn't crash today. That's something. The weather was mostly OK. Some really good air. Some not so good, But no rain until very late in the day.

Glad to hear you had some decent air.  In Topeka the air was very iffy on a plane that is/has not been fully trimmed.  Nothing like seeing the nose of the plane on outside maneuvers.  Judges very lenient.  I am also gald to hear our team is getting in great shapr for the Worlds.  GO TEAM,  DOC Holliday

Yep, the only realy bad air I saw was when Leo was standing to close to the circle talking again.. hehe LL~ LL~

serious, the contest turned out great, fantastic day of practicing yesterday before and after the OTS, made HUGE progress with trim on the Oriental and GeeBee. , Saturday, in the process of flying all three events, managed to get very sunburnt , yes YES there was sunshine at the Regionals. Like Randy said, the sun hid right about 6 when all the big guns were trying to get a few practice flights in. Sunday my flying was over but it was apparantly a decent day. Overall a great weekend!
Randy's Shoestring is as beautifull as it looks like in the pictures if not better,,
Ok not to slight the rest of the planes, there were lots of nice planes again,,

Yea, Wish my allergies weren't going nuts. Worst allergy attack I've had in years. I elected to bail before my second flight in PA. Had a rough drive home, stopping every little bit to squirt more allergy drops in my eyes so I could see. Well, at least I learned what I needed to do to get both planes flying better, so the trip was definitely worth it. Saw some pretty good flying, too.

Seems to me you got your lickes in. And of course  a lot of jokes going around and mostly about eastern Washington. Just kidding you my friend. But where was our friend Howard Rush. It's not that we missed him but we did miss his sence of humour. It just ain't a contest without this guy. A good time was had by all and as usuall I was given a bad time by all my friends Wouldn't have it any other way. HB~> HB~> HB~>
