I dont know about you guys, but I would have thought most people would not try to stunt a plane until they learned level flight. So keeping with the "crash" threads that have popped up, I have a little story-
Some of the guys at work have shown an intrest in flying C/L since I talk about it at work on occasion. So last week I bring a plane in to fly after our shift ends, I fly it once, and then offer the handle to whoever is brave enough to try. My buddy Chris is the first one to try it. He gets it in the air, and does a 1/2 egg shaped loop into the ground. Broken flap and vertical stab. easily repaired. So he has 1/8th a lap(mostly inverted) under his belt.
We flew again yesterday. I fly it, a good flight. I let him have it again. He does great, almost two laps, and he smacks the ground again, bent gear and a broken prop. a few minutes later, the plane is running. One lap later he skims the ground, stopping the engine, no damage. Now the good part...
we refuel, and launch, he is doing great, two almost level laps, I get the camera, not in time, the plane goes into an inside loop, and recovers, then another loop, and recovers. Then another loop, and the wind blows the plane into the circle, a nice figure 9. No real damage, but......
He said " I saw you loop it a bunch of times, so..."
The plane is hardly damaged at all, and its well worth the ribbing he is going to take from the other guys. They missed out cause he crashed it last week, and now this. lol
What is the best part is the questions of how much for an engine, what do I need to get one.......the intrest is exciting. I plan to help them get into it as inexpensivly as possible. Foam wings will be cut, balsa sanded, film and paint to be applied, it keeps getting better.
Here are a few pics from yesterday. The plane is my practice Cardinal. Foam wing, very durable. Has made it thru many many crashes
And afterward he tells me that he was called "Crash" when he ran dirtbikes. Now he tells me
