Yes it's big, yes it pulls hard, yes it's wicked cool!!
« on: September 05, 2017, 04:25:01 PM »
So the Two Much project has flown and the retracts worked perfectly.  I've been building this off and on for three years.  I bought the plans as drawn by Gord Delaney and set to it!  Gord has two, Bart has one, one other was started and now mine.

It has elite retracts in each nacelle, controlled by the Jomar retract device.
Two Aerotigre 36s, three blade carbon props
6 oz tanks
Paint is metallic solvent based over dope and polyurethane clear over it all
Weight is just over 90 ozs as it sits and will come down slightly but won't make the 90oz cutoff...
Fully take apart
Flies on 65.7feet of .021 cable.

So far round loops, squares, triangles, inverted, wing overs have been the shake down tricks.  Line tension seems appropriate, inside engine can quit first with no detriment.  One has enough to fly the plane very comfortably.

The brake effect of a twin is incredible!!! the descending line is very slow and controllable!!

Thanks for looking

Bruce

Glad you're a big boy, Bruce!  Just guessing but, with two Aero Tigers, bigger (pilot, that is) must definitely be better.  I'm guessing that with the weight, the big flaps and oversized elevator there is substantial "human" input during maneuvers!

Ted

P.s. a hundred or so stunt years ago Gordy gave me a flight on, I think, his second one.  I might have been fat enough to anchor it but I sure wasn't strong enough to do presentable tricks with it.  I think you've got a better shot at making it a good one.

pps, it's beautiful!

Way cool!
Winfred built three twins....he reported that each pulled a little less....but still a bunch, I imagine.
Your has a great color combo!

Have fun!

You cant beat Line Tension . But dont try ' things ' in gusty air on the inner only ( Learnt this the hard way )

Should be excellent , seeing youve got Decent Engines in it . Looks most impressive .

Great looking twin.   Its amazing how little some twins pull with both engines running.  Of course mine are not nearly that big.  Hope to get my twins up this week end.  Depends on the circle we will be using.

So what do you estimate the pull to be ?  Curious about how it compares to a typical 60size stunter.

Wow!  That's BIG and BEAUTIFUL!  Love twins!  I remember the first time I saw Bart K. fly Gordie's big yellow Too Much many years ago.  Incredibly impressive.  I actually have the plans and all the wood boxed up necessary to build one but just chickened out on the immense amount of work required.  Maybe someday!  I actually did build the nacells and the stab but didn't get any farther before a move forced me to put it away...Too Much is the right name for the project!  Still have the two Foster Fox 35's I planned to use.

Best of luck with it!

I have a CL Scale B-29 that comes in at 216 ounces (I am not kidding) and with four E-Flite 25's for power it pulls hard, probably in the 40 lb range so I now what you mean!

Hi Guys,

To be clear this isn't my design, it's Gord Delaneys Two Much.  Like the one posted above!  Thanks Matt!

The pull is about 1.5 times a regular stunter, heavy at first, but easy to adjust to once the laps are 5.2.... 4.7 was "more"!

Randy Cuberly, You should definitely do it!  It's a GAS!!!!  I have the trim coming along nicely it's a good ship.  The retracts are awesome!!!  Let me know if you start it up again, I can let you know how I did some things that may save some time for you.  The wing is very straight forward and the fuse is very simple.  It was the nacelles with retracts that complicated it for me.  Once you get used to walking around and around your bench it goes pretty smooth.

Glenn, thanks for the complements regarding my building, the last plane I built won the concours at the Nats....

Ted, I'm pretty geared up when I fly it, so i'm able to generate lots of input force!!  It's actually not bad on the stick pressure.  It's heavy to be sure, but surmountable.

Matt!  Thanks for posting the article/pic of Gordy and the Two Much!

Again thanks for your interest in the project!

Bruce

Bruce,
Thanks for the encouragement.  Unfortunately I have "Too Much" cluttering up my shop right now to consider starting a new project.  Then again it is very tempting.... n~... n~!

Bruce it turned out beautiful. Great Job. I love the colors. The one that Ted flew was the Gemini a later twin. I remember when one of the engines shut down I heard Ted Say Thank God. We just laughed, but I knew how he felt.

Gordy

PS: Randy, The yellow Twin that Bart flew was a Gemini Not the Two Much.
