Not control line,, but model airplanes
« on: April 28, 2013, 12:51:14 PM »
Ok so today I did not get any work done on my 109,, but My grandaughter and I went flying,,
remember those balsa 25 cent gliders? well we went flying today with HER new airplane

for those who dont recall, or did not see, I took her flying my Ukey a couple years ago , holding her while she flew ( she was 3 and a half at that time)

we just have not had the chance since then, well this weekend, we did.
It was kinda chilly, and definetly blustery ( It was to windy and I was not going to go, but Linda reminded me that my little Bug had no expectations so whatever happend would be cool) she was right, we had a blast, who knew those little gliders ( no longer 25 cents by the way) were so dang tough!

we played for almost an hour, then went for hot chocolate,, I have warm fuzzies and so does she,,

a few pictures,,,
For years the rat race had me going around in circles, Now I do it for fun!

That's awesome, Mark!  Looks to me like you might have a pitcher on your hands later - good arm!

Mark, that's outstanding!  Always nice to see young people taking an interest in this stuff.

What's next?  Rubber-powered FF?  Or maybe a mild CL trainer?

well I know she enjoyed the Ukey when we flew it,, I think the next step is to help her build a AMA Dart rubber band powered plane,, I have the kit here,, that will help her understand whats involved, and now that she is 5 and a half, I think I will start trying to teach her to fly my Ukey solo,,

Then maybe I will break her into combat,, she is kinda tough LOL,,

She might like catapult gliders. Just a 6" dowel, a rubber band and a (sturdy) glider. Kids get a thrill when they pull back and let 'er rip. Easier for young (and old) arms than throwing. Still need a to do a little trimming to get the transition into the glide part down. ;D  8)

She's already got "the bottoms" lower than Mark's, judging from this "wingover".  LL~ Steve

Looks like lyou were having as much fun as her.    Was trying  to remember how many hours I spent with those rady to fly gliders and rubber ROG planes when I was a youngster.    Bought some for my kids years later and they literally were them out flying them.
