Not CL modelling but great dioramas and modelling
« on: January 21, 2016, 08:29:54 PM »
Found this tonight (have to do something on a snowy night):  http://www.themodellingnews.com/2012/11/telford-ipms-scale-model-world-ptii.html

Great dioramas and modelling.  After first set of pics, 4 more links to additional aircraft pics.

Plastic model action dioramas are, in my humble opinion, the highest form of modeling. It takes the knowledge and skill required for RC, FF and Cl building and raises them to a level beyond most of us mere mortals. The dioramas I've seen at regional IPMS (International Plastic Modelers Society) shows are breathtaking in their detail and artistry. The undisputed master and inspiration for all was Shep Paine, recently passed. Google him to see his work. It may look familiar as the box art on some Monogram plastic kits were Shep's creations. I'm always looking for some little trick to borrow from these guys to enhace the look of my FF rubber scale and CL builds.

And I thought CL, RC and FF scale modelers were fanatics.   These guys are unreal.

Amazing! I scrolled down and opened the page on the Dornier Do335 Pfeil build. Like what Crist Rigotti has been doing but smaller and in plastic. I have no idea what tools and techniques are used to create these incredibly realistic paint schemes.

One last one, not diorama though.  This guy might be a "certified nut" although he does qualify as a modeller.  Why this choice of subject, who knows.  His hobby supplies are cheap though.

If I tried to do this on the dining room table at home my wife would shoot me.  The guy is pretty crafty and does have patience.

Not sure why it put the "preview pic" on there as I only meant to post the link, but oh well.

Absolutely incredible.  Makes me want to trash all of my plastic display models.
