Daylight Savings Spring Flying - Buder Park
« on: March 08, 2015, 08:30:44 PM »
Ok it's not officially Spring yet but when it's 63 degrees, light winds there is only one thing to do and that is to get out and get some flying in! Dan, Marvin, Joe and myself were flying today at Buder Park in St Louis. Nice to see some warm weather after all of the cold weather that the Midwest has gotten the last couple months.

Yellow and blue was scratch built by Fred Cronenwett over 20 years ago to carry a camera, and the Skyray is built with a foam wing and has throttle control with 2.4 Ghz

Joe flying, The Lafayette Esquadrille has a tradition of putting name and date on the circle when you are done. Of course it's gone after the first rain but you can tell who has flown recently

 Awesome!

 Just hoping we have some place to fly when the weather breaks up here.

Fred,

Good to see you guys out there flying, I spoke with Dan earlier that mourning when we were on our way to KC for a conference.  We are coming up to the St. Louis area next weekend and Ben and I will have our planes with us if the weather cooperates (will even try and drag the brother in law out #^).

Looks like it was a great day for it.  I'm still on a 6-day work week so I basically have zero time to do much of anything right now.

Does Bruder Park have a grass circle, too?
Searching to find my new place in this hobby!

Pics show you guys having too much , if that's possible.   I was out at our new field late Sunday and got a couple of flights on the Ringmaster Imperial. Would have went out Saturday but spent the day putting primer on the Chupim20.   Also dinner with future son-in-law and his parents.

  Hey Andre;
   If you have ever been to Buder to fly combat in the past, there is an area between the paved circles and the tree line in the first photo Fred put up that is quite large and you probably flew combat matches back there. There are concrete pilot centers out there, 3 or four of them I think, but they have largely sunk into the ground over the years. Buder has a paved donut circle, the paved square pad, a grass carrier circle with concrete take off and landing deck, and a caged speed circle. The grass area I spoke of has room for at least three or four combat circles.. All of this in a relatively small area, considering the surroundings. It's right off I-44 at the Valley Park/Hiway 141 exit, a few miles west of the I-44/I-270 intersection. We'll be having our annual speed contest the weekend after Mother's Day, and if you are looking to take the wife on a short weekend or day trip on the Harley, we're not too far from you. Come on up! Lots of motorcycle related stops for you also like the Mungenast Museum, Donnelson's Cycle shop and museum and other stuff just a short drive from Buder Park location. Betty Fox and John Lowery were frequent visitors when Betty was still running the company.
  Type at you later,
