Northeast Schedule
« on: June 20, 2020, 12:15:41 PM »
All,
With the lifting of Covid restrictions in the Northeast can we put a schedule of events together. Since the passing of Ed Barry I'm willing to put something together. Please post here or PM me with information. Any Controlline event from, lets say, Northern Virginia to Maine. Plus, Carolina Criterium

Looking forward to getting out and seeing everyone.

All it will be easier to cancel events in the event of a spike in covid rather than have no events scheduled at all.I need to hear from Philly flyers, Northern Virginia, Carolina Gang, New York Stunt team.  I will reach out to Phil Cartier on East Coast Championship.

possible foxberg and clown??  I thought that was a done deal.

Do you know who is hosting this event?  Maybe they could confirm what is actually going on. I have an email stating a fun fly. In the events section there is racing. Hoping to confirm.

Thanks
Tom

Please include City and State. Some of us (me) might not know where these events have been held in the past.

       Good news/ Bad news

Maine: AMA sanctioned C/L Fun Fly Saturday, Aug 8, Topsham, Maine. Maine red hot dogs (the best in the world) and lunch provided by the Brunswick Area Modelers club. That's the good news.

Bad news: A lease has been signed for the conversion of our field to a solar farm. Indications are that we'll still have the use of the field by Aug 8. I'll post updates on Maine's virus rules prior to the fly-in.

We have a very nice 80'+ radius circle and a smaller area suitable for 50+ foot lines.

Topsham is 27 miles north of Portland.

First off: I'm very glad to hear that you all are doing well amid this mess.

"brotha from another motha"...  ;D  ;D

Ah, the Vintage Combat Festival. Very glad to see you've found a venue at which to hold the event. I always enjoy the threads, pics, and videos concerning the GSCB's VCF event. I'll be looking forward to the Top Secret info as it leaks through to the masses!

Alas, I'm at a very low ebb in my C/L hobby. So many hobby irons in the fire... so many things clamoring for my hobby $$.

All fer now.

Hi 'ya Frank!

Good to see you chime in.

We're all doing well. No one in our family, or extended family has, or had, the virus. Very thankful for that.

Stay safe!

Andre,
A bit of change on that. Unfortunately, Jim will not be attending the Nats with me. So, I will bring my junk and recruit a pitman when I get there. Maybe offer some flights and of course a flight on the foamie VooDoo or as LS calls it the VooDon't.

Tom:

Understand completely on the "things change" situation. It's difficult for any of us to know what this country is going to be like a few weeks from now, much less a few months from now.

"...or as LS calls it the VooDon't."

LOL! Sounds exactly like that lovable rapscallion!

SO many good memories of our trip up your way.

EDIT: Went in and told Sharon the above... she guffawed out loud and said that sounds EXACTLY like what Larry would come up with off the cuff!

Andre :
THE VINTAGE COMBAT FESTIVALS AT THE GSCB FIELD IN LINCOLN PARK ARE ARE NO MORE. FIELD GONE AFTER 60 YEARS.  THE EVENT THAT YOU AND SHARON EXPERIENCED WAS LIKELY THE VERY BEST ! ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, THE PINELANDS VENUE SHOULD BE A FUN DAY.

Frank:

You're probably right in that particular VCF was one of the best. Yes, I was so bummed to learn that the GSCB's lost Lincoln Park field. When I attended in 2015, I no sooner got out of the car than I could literally sense the history of that place. So sad.  :'(

No doubt you all will rise above it and have a great time. With all this C-19 crap, I don't know if we'll ever be able to get back up to see you East Coast Crazies again. Such a strange and alien feeling in America right now.
