The guys went flying and I'm stuck waiting for a delivery I have to sign for. Oh well, maybe tomorrow or next weekend. At least I can work on the plane.
-
Don't feel too bad, Randy. It has only been a bit over 730 days since I have been able to fly. Very little sympathy here.................. ;D

Just about the time I was ready to run the lines out, the wind picked up enough that bits of tree were falling off. So -- don't feel bad.
-
Tim, it was so windy here you couldn't stack cement blocks! Quality time in the shop though.

We've had a lot of nasty wind here in Tucson for the past several days also...maybe tomorow!

None here either... :(

I saw pictures in the paper from MinnerSoda that looked worse than that -- you must have gotten the edge of it.
Skis?

The above pics are from today in Polk City Iowa, a few minutes north of Des Moines. The Mid-Iowa Controliners Spring Kickoff contest was supposed to be this weekend. Pretty quiet here though. :(
Yeah, Minnesota got it worse, we got a fresh FOOT of snow at home the night before I left to come down here. Just can't get away from the stuff! HB~>

Yup, it was windy here also. 30 mph winds mist of day. When it dropped to 15 I went out and had a great time! The Predator is not afraid of the wind. ;D

Uhhhh....My Shoestring is not afraid of the wind either...It's my hand shaking from fear that creates the problems LL~ LL~ LL~

I feel your pain Mr. Powell, Earlier this week, I got the news from my Doctor that they think I had a heart attack. I had awakened around 2:30 with some mild pain in my back and headed to the bathroom, where the pain intensified to the point I was on the floor, sweating and salivating and feeling like I was gonna puke. When i woke up it was hard to breath and my heart was pounding. I thought maybe I had a kidney stone or gal bladder attack. But earlier in the week I had started having some pain in my left arm. Looks like I will be spending some time going to and fro to the VA hospital for a couple weeks.
But I guess I can still work on my plane at home! LOL ;D

Dang John! Looks like you won this time. Do exactly what the docs tell ya and you should be good to go for a long while yet. Take care.

You know I will to the best of my ability. y1

I DID get to go flying today. The BOM (Klutz) tripped in my lines, yanked the airplane sideways in the grass and pulled the landing gear out. The Nats Jinx has begun.
Dave

I call my flying buddy and we agreed to meet at the field. I charged my batteries and drove the 25 miles to the field. When I got there he was at the turnout before the gate. I blew the horn and drove by. OOPS the gate was closed and so was the park due to flooding. Can't win HB~>
-
I didn't get to fly today...got my chores done, pulled some weeds in the garden and the Preacher drove by and saw me. Spent the last couple hours chewing the fat with him, so I reckon I'll try again t'morrow.
-
Sorry about the gear, Dave. That's never fun.
-
Awwww crud, sorry Dave, that even hurts to look at!

Thanks guys. I'm fortunate that I have a couple other machines but I was leaning toward this one for the Nats. This is actually the first Desperado that I used at the last team trials, but with a few mods and new finish. Although it flys great it's pushing the weight now (classified-don't ask) and the fix, retrim for that and I WAS going to add a little nose weight for the next flight makes me think its time to retire this one. Not sure how it would handle the hot lazy air in July. I have a new urgency to get that new take-apart machine finished up.

At 7AM this morning there was no wind...went to the flying field.
Bob Whitely, Lou Wolgast, Ed Capitinelli, Burt Brokaw, and myself.
By 8AM wind was terrible...no flying again today...sat around and gossiped for a while then everyone drifted away.
Good to see friends...not good to not be able to fly.
Rats...will it ever let up?

If you start tonight you can finish a new plane and still have a month to trim it. Good luck! Sorry for the mishap.

Robert I'm already starring at the wood pile. Suddenly my deep bench of backup airplanes doesn't look so deep. May even order a new ROJett .76 for a couple of Only Vegas airplanes I've got tucked away.

Nope...that ain't about to happen...does the same thing on this ridge! After about June, you won't be able to buy a breeze. But for now...I'm gonna mow my backup field thats sheltered under the ridge. It's sorta sloped...but I use the downhill side for my amateur stunts! Perfect for lazy 8s. ;D

Dave I thought I knew you better than that. Remember the new plane you had years ago that the cowl exploded on after a few laps around the circle? At least I think it was you. Anyway get the bird back together or hang it up and go with one of the others.

Well, it was a week later today, and I got to the airport, but nobody else could go, even Randy. At least, nobody who answered the phone could go. I spent some time calling various folks that are long distance for me, because while LD is free on the cell phone (but not to Canada), there is seldom any connectivity at my house. Well, at least I got a haircut and beard trim. Plane's in the truck, so if anybody wants to risk flying Sunday (Mother's Day), call me! I'm an orphan since '92, tho Mom passed in '81. :( Steve
-
Sorry Steve. I did get into the shop this afternoon for a bit, but was gone all morning and most of the afternoon.
My mom passed 4 years ago Monday. I'm thinking of her.
-
I spent last night re-plumbing the fuel system on my Shoestring. Ground tested it this morning and it ran perfectly for the first time since the sputtering Maiden. All set and excited to go fly it Saturday. Wife comes in from a hard days work and says, "Ya know what, we are doing a road trip and get out of this damn place for the weekend." Silence... "What, you didn't have anything special to do this weekend, Did you?" Uh, nnnnnaah.
I know when to keep my mouth shut. Unfortunately this is one of those times. Grump Grump.
-
What about tomorrow, this weekend, Randy? I can go Saturday...Sunday is doubtful. I went today (Friday) and got in two flights. Wind died down a bit for the 2nd one, and it was mostly in control... LL~ Steve

Steve,, come on over here, I got a nice grass spot to fly,,
-
News Flash...I can go flying (at Auburn Muni) either today (Saturday) or Sunday. I just have to be home by 6pm Sunday...so I can't go to Pullman, but thanks for the offer, Mark! I think I'll change my entry to Advanced or Intermediate at Regionals.
I'm lucky I don't "remember" the pattern, because I always just figure it out as I go...and that's getting more & more difficult. n~ Steve
-
Rain today. It's supposed to clear up tomorrow, but I'm singing tomorrow morning. If things look good in the afternoon I'll go.
-
I'm not going to be flying (or doing much of anything) for awhile. Work, work, work.

That's just not right, Randy! Leave a little bit for the unemployed to do... LL~ Steve

Steve,
I've got bills to pay and miles to go before I sleep....
-
Work while you can. A lot of people just wishing they had a job, even a part time job.
-
Well I had to work as usual but the grandson Dylan got to fly. He sent me this pic. He hit his tool box with the Baby Clown......
-
Blame it on the pit man. Looks like an easy fix tho.

Yup but I bet it won't happen before the contest next weekend. He'll now probably fly that new Ringmaster. He's hasn't flown anything that big yet (he's 6) and the engine is out- of-the- box new with NO run time yet. Get buzy Kevin....
-
Kevin reported he's been trying three days to get the new Brodak .15 started. Then he found the head bolts loose, the gasket folded under and when the sleeve popped up he found it rotated 90degrees out. Turned it around and started first flip. Whoops!!!! Guess the break in is going OK now tho. This must have been the one on the line when the dinner bell rang.

Finally got my first cutting of hay in....the last of it had to be hauled loose in my stock trailer....baler blew up. %^@
