NO BLURR by DOC PASSEN
« on: September 27, 2010, 11:04:50 PM »
The instruction sheet in my No Blurr kit was a copy of the Pattern Master with a note on it that he was out of the ones specifically for the No Blurr. Does anyone have an original they can send me a copy of (e-mail or s_mail)? Currell sent me a copy of the Pattern Master, but some of the notes (that were arrowed in) were outside the copy and didn't print. I would appreciate a complete copy of the No Blurr itself if anyone has one. Thanks.

I can't exactly help you, but let me throw this in:

I visited Doc down In Jasonville in 1990 when he hosted his Old Time Combat contest, which outdrew the current AMA Nats by a lot.  Doc  had a thriving CL business in the basement of his big, stone farmhouse.  When you went down there, you were knee-deep in balsa dust and shavings, so it was no surprise that he lost it all to fire.  So sad, a lot of plans and templates went up in smoke.

I flew his Mackie prototype, powered by an ST 35 Stunt. It flew good.

The No Blurr was basically a profile Nobler, with (I believe) a foam wing.  It sold for $29.50, cheap, even in 1990.  There may be some plans around somewhere, but with Doc's passing and the fire, chances narrow down.  Good news, it's just a roadkilled Nobler with a foam wing, so a modeler could figger it out.

Paul-

I am not worried about figuring it out, I just want a copy of the original directions to put in the box if I sell it.

I found a somewhat older document from Doc (maybe 1988).  He was offering the No Blurr for only $21.95 then.  It was definately a foam wing and balsa profile fuselage device.  Doc noted that the No Blurr flys better than the old Aldrich version.  Doc churned out at lot of stiff in his day but paperwork wasn't his top product.  I wouldn't be surprized if the No Blurr instruction sheet actually was another design with a few pencil notes.
