Just a quick note to let you know. Big had a stroke this morning and is currently in the ER. It affected his left side and he has (in 2 hours) regained his left leg control. He has feeling in his left arm and can control his thumb and first two fingers. All the info I have right now,I will update as I can. Thanks All.
-
Thanks for the update.
We went through this with my father about 10 years ago. He spent 2 years in the hospital and re-hab before he could go home. He managed to survive for 8 more years after that. There was a significant improvement in his physical abilities while initially in the hospital. Sounds like BIg Art is making progress, and at this time that's very important!
I wish all the Adamisin clan the best in this trying time.

Wishing Big Art a speedy recovery, from my family to yours. While you boys were absent from stunt, your Dad was a big help to me, a source of inspiration, a flying coach and he taught me much about judging, and finally is an absolute riot to hang out with. Tell him he has to get better quick because a bunch of us need him!
Love and Prayers from

Thanks everyone for the kind words and support. I have an update.. He is being transferred as I type to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He is regaining movement in his hand and arm. He can begin to bend his elbow and the only finger not yet with the program is the pinkie. My son Mike and Alan's son Greg got him up for a walk to the restroom and his leg was a little tardy but he could put weight on it..
-
Dave,
It is good to hear that he is getting stuff back in order so quickly. We will keep him in our prayers. Please let us know when he can receive visitors.

To the Adamisin Family,
I have met "Big Art" several times and he always had a big smile and firm handshake. Im sure he will make first round of the next contest in fine form ready to do whatever seems like fun at the time.
He's a strong guy with lots of determination.

Big Art is simply one of my favorite people. I first met him and all the Adamisins (at least those who had made it into the world at that time) at the '68 Nats in Olathe. When the U-Haul trailer cruised over the tarmac towed by a car piloted by Big Art, full of incredible airplanes, it was for me the Nats opening ceremony.
Over the many years we have shared many thoughts, some debates and a genuine warm spirit for each other. My sincerest thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hey Denny, Dave, Arch and the rest, we'll be in prayer for Big Art! Take him our best1 I'll put his recovery on the FCM prayer chain.

To all out wonderful friends and extended family,
I was with Dad yesterday afternoon and evening.
Right now, we're feeling guardedly fortunate. He seems to be progressing steadly forward. He's in good spirits and flirting with the nurses.
He has regained most of the use of his left arm, he can control his hand and can lift his arm from the elbow. He's having trouble lifting it from the shoulder but that's something we'll have to work on.
All the tests have come back good so far so we're all feeling very fortunate. He wishes to tell everyone Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. Our family is so very fortunate to have so many people concerned about Dad.
Thanks again to all of you for your thoughts and prayers, we all needed them.
I'm going up to see him this afternoon and I will try to takw up a laptop so he can maybe respond to all you wonderful people.
Thanks again, Arch, Big Art's eldest son.

Great news, thanks for the update.

To Big Art and the Adamisin Family,
Sometimes we are blessed enough to get to see God answering our prayers and it sounds as if God was with Big Art and heard everyone's prayers, so I will add my voice in saying; "God's Blessings to you Big Art and to your whole family".
Best Wishes,
Pat Robinson

I spoke with Grampa (Big Art) this morning. His spirit is up and he is very ready to go home. He is no hurry though as he wants the doctors okay and make sure that all is well before he leaves. He thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Archie,
He may not want to go home because he is treated so well at the hospital. Frank Carlisle, my son Michael and I visited with him and your uncle Allen (Alan?) yesterday and he commented that the staff was treating him well (except for maybe the guy that ripped off the monitoring pads and some hair off of his chest prior to the MRI). The two nurses that came in during our visit seemed to enjoy his company as well. You are right that he is in good spirits and as usual he gave me plenty of things to think about for some of my future airplane projects. We hope that he makes it home soon and that there are no future complications.
John

From The Netherlands we're sending our best wishes and we'll keep our fingers crossed.

The past few days have been hectic for me, so I did not get to see this til now. I know it will take a lot to keep Big Art down. He has a great family to help him. I think we met in 73 when Dennis beat out Dave Trible for the Sr stunt champion ship. At the St Louis team trials, Big Art was the only stunt person that talked to me when I had a break during the F2C trials. What more can I say, other than I am glad all is going well and he is home.
-
A great big well wishes to Big , Arch, Dave, Denny, and ALL the ADAMISIN Family! I am so happy to hear Art is home and up and around so quick.
He is without a doubt one of the most favorite people I have ever known.
My continued prayers for you all,
Big Bear
