Title: Newbie at the Nats - Day 4 - No pics, sorry
Post by: the original Steve Smith on July 11, 2006, 07:46:06 PM
In short the story was the weather!

I judged today Advanced and Open.  We had a 2 hour rain delay and horrible conditions for the Open flyers this afternoon.

Saw several "close calls" and Bob McDonald actually fell near the end of his flight - he kept the plane in the air even when he slipped again trying to get up - real scary but he's ok according to the reports I heard, plus his plane also survived and he landed without further incident.

Lots of brave pilots putting on their best efforts in spite of the conditions.

Tomorrow we try to fly two rounds - mother nature willing.   y1

Sparky,

That is a great picture. The weather ruined the flying part of your trip, but I am glad you still have that airplane.

The Nats is also social, and I am sure you had a good time.
