New York Stunt Team First New Years Day Fun Fly
« on: January 01, 2012, 11:48:10 AM »
Today at Flushing Meadows Park the NY Stunt Team had our first annual New Years Day Fun fly. The weather was perfect!!!!! Low 50's and a 4-6 mph breeze from the south. The turnout was great. We have Sina Goudarzi to thank for organizing this wonderful event and bringing coffee and donuts for all and my son Kevin for taking these photos on his I Phone 4S. The first picture from left to right shows John Kelly,Frank Carbone,Sina Goudarzi,Richie Turillo,Will DeMauro,Joe Mig jr.,Ron Heckler,Neil Beekman, and Joe Mig Sr..
In the second Picture John Kelly becomes the photographer and Kevin takes his spot. Jose Modesto arrived after this picture was taken but we didn't forget him.

Here are more pictures!! The shot of Kevin flying was taken from inside the circle at his request to give a different point of view.

I'll have to make a plan to visit my brother on Long Island next New Year's so that I can join you.

Real good thing you did it today. Cause what we got here in Michigan today that canceled our New Years Day flying is gonna be at your place tomorrow. Just a hint. It will be a building day.

Apparently this is the warmest winter so far since we moved onto the island 11 years ago. First time no ice in December. My guess is canals will freeze with this cold front this week. Probably still a few weeks til the river gets hard but all the weather bouys are out now so I do not have water temp data. Our usual first ice over is 2nd week December .

I wanted to practice some wind flying today, but wind never got over 40 til late so I'm building. Indoor starts tuesday. I will need to talk to you re control system on indoor stunter.

Bob,
How come nobody told me that the New Years Day flying was canceled?  While it was less than ideal, I came over 6500 miles to get a flight in and that is what I did.

Well, you know me, it its rediculous I wasn't going to come. But when Frank said it was going to be so bad HE wasn't going to come.... man, I headed for shelter! You'll have to ask him. Its all Frank's fault! But then, it always is isn't it?

Great pictures of the group as well as the flying.   It was windy here in my part of the country with temps in the 40's and I couldn't pass up the corn bread with beans at Church.    Have not heard from the TOPCLASS group on how things went.    H^^
