Was with the family at my oldest daughters place for New Years eve.   Even stayed sober.

I'm not old, but went to bed about 10pm. And watched the ball drop and the fireworks on the new with coffee the next morning.

Edy and I wandered down the street to the beach.....sat in the 74* WX and watched fireworks provided by a local eatery....it was great!

Then got up and went flying.

Rode the motorbike about 50 miles

Then took a dip

Life is good!

Right!  Every year is the same;  the ball drops, the TV shows a bunch of parties where people get smashed and act like dopes.  Some fireworks and guns going off around me.  Not worth staying up.

Was in the sack by 2210.  Stayed awake long enough to watch "the ball" drop in NYC (2200 here), then turned-in.  No big deal; it's just another day.

(The downside to watching that TV 'celebration' was having to endure that nauseating Kathy Griffin.)

Just curious. how many olde fahrts out there actually saw the new year come in?  I was asleep by 21:30, 9:30 for ex Army and Mickeys big hand, well never mind, too many USAF  out there. My flying bubbies. .
Too cold to build out in the garage, so I am here harrassing olde guys.

We did...along with a $25.00 bottle of Korbel.

I went to bed at 2358 hours. The noise started at 2330 hours and stopped shortly after 0020 hours. Did I get that right? I was only a USAF brat...  Steve

 Me and the White Russians rang it in properly, and didn't hit the sack 'til about 0300.

 Oh yeah, made it to the flying field at 1100 for the annual club fun fly too, it was only 2 below zero.

We don't seem to have the party spirit anymore - if we ever did. Gusti and I had planned to stay up and drink some of the very expensive Champagne my former orchestra had given me, but it didn't seem like the time to waste it. No fire in the fire place either. As midnight approached and we changed the channel, the prospect of watching some newly more glittery sphere and even more ancient personage got less and less appealing. So we switched to WCLV FM radio and listened to Robert Conrad bring in the new year. Then we wandered off to bed, uninspired by a change in calendar digits. Talk about party poopers! We couldn't even inspire our own "party." Heck, at least last New Year's Eve, Gusti was the last person to be heard on WCLV in 2012, on their 50th-anniversary broadcast, and during their time as a commercial station. We're becoming even less relevant, and somehow, only wish for a better 2014 for everyone, not that we're excited or anything...yawn.

Left the house at 11:00 pm, headed to Delta Park to fly in the New Years Eve fly in the dark fun fly. I had installed 72 LED lights on my Flite Streak,so it would be visible. Five other flyers showed up and a fun time was had by all. this was the forth year for the event, Jim Cameron was the first to fly in 2014. Off to coffee at 1:45am, home by 3:15 am.
   New Years Day back to the park at 10:00am for the fun fly this time a total of thirteen flyers and six or seven spectators on hand, followed by a chilly feed and the raffle prizes. 
   
   HOPE I NEVER GET TO OLD TO HAVE FUN!!!!!!
