I had gotten word from my club president That a fellow club member and friend and a mentor Allen Brickhaus has passed away. Im typing this right now in tears. Allen has been a huge help to me and many others in the control line community. After having problems with my engine at contests, The Nats and the Paducah contest i was ready to give up and only fly for the heck of it or even quit. While at this years contest in Paducah Allen sat me down and encouraged me to go on. He believed in me and i know he believed in others. He told me i was gonna be great in Stunt someday and now its my goal to get there. He was a mentor to many and a great help to all who was willing to learn. He was a great friend to many and was always a great face to see at contests and I had a blast seeing him at the beginners NATS. HE will be Missed. Allen i promise that in 2014 I will fly on , compete, and apply everything you taught me. I will not forget you my friend and mentor. Now here is my biggest concern. He was working with a group of kids that called themselves the Patton Street Pirates. My greatest concern is who is gonna pick up where Allen left off? Who is gonna continue to teach them? If i had the money and support I would be glad and honored to move down there and work with the kids. Those kids are gonna be crushed. Allen meant allot to them and i know those kids meant allot to Allen. We cant let those kids be left not knowing how to fly. They are the future of control line. Wish there was something i could do. Allen you will be missed!!! PLease keep Allen's wife Kathy and his family and friends in your prayers.
