IM not gonna be at the 2015 NATs. I plan on taking all year to fully learn the beginner pattern. I will be goin to a few contests. Just really want to get the full pattern down and perfect it. Will be there in 2016.

Sounds like a great plan.... if you are near the St Louis area we have several contests during the year that have Beginner stunt!

So Andrew, where do you live?????? Most guys would be more than happy to help you no matter where you live.
You might want to rethink going to the Nat's. You would learn so much and you would have a bench mark on your performance.  Also , keep your airplanes simple at the beginner stage. Make all your maneuvers really big. Ah the list goes on . Bill

The NATS and contests will go a long way in the learning curve of competition.   Not only will you learn so much that you will wish you had a recorder to keep track.   Also most of the guys when they are not busy will fly your plane and tell you their opinion on what should be done.

Ive been to the beginner NATS the past two years. I have guys here in the club that is gonna help me out. I just wanna take a year off and relax and not feel pressured to have it all in just a few months. The spring brings lots of rain here in Kentucky and southern Indiana so it only leaves a small amount of time to fly before the NATS.

Well take care of Mom.   She is the only one you have.   I was lucky in that the job I had I acquired a lot of vacation time.   I remember as a kid I wanted to go to a model plane contest, but the family wanted to go visit Dad's sister for the weekend.   Today I'm glad we did.

With a full year to practice you can skip beginner and step up to intermediate.

The Nats is not a good first contest.  Bag as many local ones as you can before you go for The Big One.
