I read on the "other" forum that the Evo's were being shipped.

Horizon contacted me via email if I still wanted my back order shipped now that the engines are in. I suggest anyone who has ordered or is contemplating to contact Horizon. These engines took a consderable amount of time to come in and who knows how along the stock will last. With the devaluation of the green back I don't foresee prices of Chineese stuff going any lower

I just got a notice from my bank notifying me that Horizon has charged my credit card for the cost of my engine.  I guess that means it is on the way.  Hot Dawg!!!  A new toy to play with.

Well to my supprise when I got home from work there it was !! My first impression was very good, the box is classy and is packed like a Saito. The instructions seem very complete , covering just about everything you need to know. The only thing I would question is recommending Cool Power and Omega fuels, they do also recommend Power Master but make no reference to castor % that I saw.

as for fuel,  these are ball bearing engines with a nicely fitted abc piston and liner.  They should run any commercial fuel fine.  The type of run might not be to your liking, but you will not hurt it if it is run within reason.

I didn't find any break-in info either. Other than that, very complete.

Hi Andy. I have been running all of the development engines on Cool Power all synthetic. I am not a castor fan. I also ran some Cool Power with 2% castor added to see if it had an effect on the engine burn characterisitics and didn't see any issues. I knew that a lot of people were going to run castor and wanted to be sure that there were no problems. My guess is that if you have experience with abc engines that it will serve you well with the Evo.

I've always heard since I came back to C/L to run with proper % of oil, mainly castor and some syn for cleaning. What should be run in it ?? Damaging the engine is my main concern.

Assuming you are an old F..t like me and want a little castor in the fuel, what total percentages should we use?  I tend to use Powermaster 10/18 or 15/18 with a synthetic/castor blend of unknown proportions.   What should the starting point be?

Everyone with an opinion on this, please grab a target and line up on the right......... Personally I left castor behind in the early seventies. If the engine is new or at least the piston and sleeve are new I see no need for bean oil. If the engine has already been been run on bean oil, you need to continue with it. I like between 15 and 18% synthetic. If you want to add some castor I'd limit it to 2-3%. Too much oil lowers the "octane" rating of the fuel and you have to start adding a lot of head gaskets to slow the burn back down. I'll stop now... and pick up my target. Please be gentle....

Dennis, you can set the target down. It doesn't matter to me what fuel I use as long as I DON'T ruin an engine.  y1 y1 y1

I'm very anxious to see what everyone finds with this engine, as it sounds very promising. I've got a couple of RC Evolution engines and they run great. I've got a 38-Special ready to build on the workbench, and curious as to even try to power it with this 36. The different venturies might give an advantage to success, and if I recall, the test plane for this motor was rather large .... but cant remember what it was.

Dave, Do you have any info as to spare parts for these engines, such as screws gaskets, nv assy's and other parts?
        Thanks for the info, Gil

No I don't, sorry. I would guess that Pete B. is monitoring and will chime in. I can tell you that I've run the heck out of the dev. engines and not used any spares yet.

Dave thanks for the quick response..  Have you had a chance to check for other spray bar assy's to see if and what fits thru the venturi to be able to run a front needle assy on them ??  Again thanks for your help...
