2025 half Triathalon in Muncie.
« on: August 28, 2024, 07:22:24 AM »
Another contestant noted that rooms have already filled up in Muncie for July 11 & 12, 2025 (Friday-Saturday).
They are having a 70.3 mile half triathelon on July 12th.  I don't expect that the room-crowding will extend beyond July 11-12.
The entry fee is only $384.80 and it's only a half-size event, 1.2 swim, 56 bike bike, and 13.1 run.
I don't know the AMA Nats schedule yet, but most CL events run mid week.
A few years ago I flew scale and this was an issue.  I got a room up in Marion Indiana, which is only 22-25 miles from the field.

The Iron Man competition has been a hotel clash in Muncie several times.   EARLY reservations are always wise.   In one case a few years ago the Baymont "lost" my weekend reservation.   I think they figured to double the rate that weekend for Iron Man and needed more space.  Days Inn bailed me out for those two days.

I have not been able to get a firm authoritative answer from AMA vis-a-vis the timing if the 2025 Nats.

This early in the process, it would be well for AMA and the event directors to sidestep the dates of July 11 & 12 in favor of the triathalon.  There is no need to butt heads with that event.

They don't usually nail that down until a fall meeting of the board.    I promise you DO NOT want to try and mess with the dates!!!  The hotel issue is very small compared the fallout from keeping our locked -in spot the third week of July.   There has been a lot of effort involved over time to guarantee the spot-lest we go much earlier into near certain bad weather or later into school time.  That's not only for students but some of our judges etc. are teachers or college professors .   Please don't try that.

The Triathelon is July 11-12, so third week of July would not really be an issue.  The third week of July begins on July 16th.
Maybe the person who was concerned was in error.

I definitely recall flying Scale at Muncie and and being squeezed out by the tri.
