How can you use PP without a bank account?

Go read the rules.  It is called a debit/credit card with the bank of your choice.

Do what I did. I wouldn't let them have my regular account either. I found another bank with a senior account with no fees or minimum balance, put a couple of hundred in it and it works fine.

I have never sold anything using PayPal, but I use it often for purchases.  They have my bank account number and my American Express number.  The bank account is, by default, the source of funds.  However, prior to following the steps for purchase, I can change the source of funds to the Amex card, which I usually do.  That way, I get the Amex satisfaction guarantee which will reverse the charge if it is in dispute.
