Well, I'm in year three in my new (old) house. I finally carved out a workshop. The X-owner's wife ran a sub rosa beauty parlor in the basement, hence the pink paint.

First two projects: Rehabing my oldest and newest models:
A 1965 Thompson Trophy Racer and a 2014 15 Profile Carrier model. Both powered by OS 15's.

Nice Paul....

It will NEVER work Paul.
Waaaaaaay too clean.
I can even see the floor!
I really like that IKE.
What's the story about that one?

I built the Howard Ike in the early days of Thompson Trophy racing, circa 1965. It was scaled off a Walter Musciano article in (maybe) Model Airplane News.
It was originally powered with a Fox 15, the hurling special. It was flown in ONE race with Dave (maybe Dennis) Adamisin at the wheel. I didn't win anything due to the engine. I upgraded to an OS Max II.
But the rules-makers saw the error of their ways and increased the scale from 1/12 to 1/8, thereby disallowing the model. I built two more Howard Ikes in the larger scale.
I keep this as my oldest flying model and fly it every few years.

The room has a nice tile floor that I don't want ruin. So I covered the floor with that plastic tile from Home Depot. It makes for a soft landing for dropped tools and engines.

Hey Paul, Do you think that racer could stand a FOX .35?
-
Oh....PS Beautiful shop. I only see that in my dreams!

Hey Paul, Do you think that racer could stand a FOX .35?
No. But my Fox 35 Stunt Speed plane might also be a Howard Ike. Maybe 1/6 scale.

Looks like you have some where to build now. I see your side wall shelves are like mine, well cluttered.
-
Woo! Spongy floor!
I cut shoe inserts from the
very same floor panels, that way
the spongy follows me around.
Count me as jealous anyway. :-)
We should talk about Fox.35 speed
for Brodak's.

Your floor is a good idea. My shop had carpeting for years. Hard to keep clean, and dropped parts couldn't ever be found. Finally, stripped out the carpet and installed wood flooring.

Love that old 'Ike'. I still have a profile Gee Bee R-1 I built from a plan copied off a place mat! (with a Sterling Mr. Mulligan wing)
I fly it 'occasionally', about every 5 years...Wife ironed it out with Monokote, still tight and shiny.
Great shop. Mine's a mess...worked on putting stuff away yesterday, and found a fuse for my Sterling S-2 Mustang!
Rest of the kit was hiding in its box, top of the kit shelf.
That floor's a good idea...I'm standing on California concrete! My shop is a nicely closed-in former side patio, 16" below floor level...

Being retired I am out in my purpose built hanger/shop almost every day usually avoiding the needed yard work and other household chores....grin
I like the lay out of your new shop and thanks for reminding me that I really need to clean up and go get more of the soft floor tiles...I have work areas in front of benches with a all black version but need to finish the entire floor as my method creates a lip that is impossible to sweep up near
I love seeing how folks do their shops as much as seeing a build or final aircraft
I find many times when there is a photos of a plane I scan all around the back ground to see the shop/house more than the subject of the photo...grin
