New search feature
« on: July 09, 2017, 07:03:58 AM »
We now have incorporated a search feature that can use Googles search engine. Use drop down box to search this forum and use forum search engine, or for a more robust search use the Google box to use the Google search engine. Works great

Note that the same feature works with any site - just enter your search string and site:<<sitename>> like:

philco seventeener crist site:antiqueradios.com

If you do prefer to do it manually, you get the best results by far using the older spelling of stunthanger(with an "e") vs. stunthangar(with an "a").

I like having it plugged in automatically now. Thanks.

Also, if you get a plain text page such as this address in your results: "https://stunthanger.com/smf/classic-planes/ka-10/35/?wap2", if you delete the "?wap2" suffix and hit Enter, it will take you to the regular fully formatted forum page. However, if the suffix says "printpage" the same cannot be done.

It's a great feature. And the SMF search functions have always been a little iffy - it's a real disaster on the Antique Radio Forum, and the new version of the SMF-embedded search here has, very suspiciously, shown me *exactly* 30 search results (with no pages to follow) several times already. Say what you want about Google, but the search engine works pretty good.
