Here are some pics of a new Tom Morris Ringmaster that I just finished up a couple weeks ago, first flight was this past Friday evening...
It's 32 ounces all-up and RTF with a Fox. 35. I added the Sig Fazer landing gear but other than that I basically just put it together out of the box as it was received from Tom. I did build a new stab and elevator though, only because I wanted to use pinned hinges instead of the provided cloth hinged pre-assembled stab/elevator. I also used a nylon control horn, just preference again there.
During the final assembly and finishing I used Aero-Fil for all of the fillet work and Brodak dope for all colors and final clear. When finished it was promptly donated it to Keith Sandberg to add to his fleet. This was so he could be ready to fly the new Ringmaster class that was added to the schedule this year at the Polk City, IA contest, which was this weekend. Originally, "Plan A" was to use an older "Leester" built Ringmaster that he'd recently obtained. About three weeks ago that all changed and we had to quickly develop a "Plan B". This new plan was needed because "Plan A" suffered an inboard wing fold at about the 8 o'clock position during an outside loop, wadded up touching it's wingtips together in midair, and then planted itself under power a millisecond later.
Here's hoping for a longer life with this one...
