Here are some pics of a new Tom Morris Ringmaster that I just finished up a couple weeks ago, first flight was this past Friday evening...
It's 32 ounces all-up and RTF with a Fox. 35. I added the Sig Fazer landing gear but other than that I basically just put it together out of the box as it was received from Tom. I did build a new stab and elevator though, only because I wanted to use pinned hinges instead of the provided cloth hinged pre-assembled stab/elevator. I also used a nylon control horn, just preference again there.
During the final assembly and finishing I used Aero-Fil for all of the fillet work and Brodak dope for all colors and final clear. When finished it was promptly donated it to Keith Sandberg to add to his fleet. This was so he could be ready to fly the new Ringmaster class that was added to the schedule this year at the Polk City, IA contest, which was this weekend. Originally, "Plan A" was to use an older "Leester" built Ringmaster that he'd recently obtained. About three weeks ago that all changed and we had to quickly develop a "Plan B". This new plan was needed because "Plan A" suffered an inboard wing fold at about the 8 o'clock position during an outside loop, wadded up touching it's wingtips together in midair, and then planted itself under power a millisecond later.
Here's hoping for a longer life with this one... ;D

Looks great Wayne, love the colors.

Nice job Wayne. Ditch the landing gear and go with something else!

Some will 32 ounces is heavy, but I have them running from 26 - 40 ounces and they seem to fly okay for me. According to Shug's post the new plane must have done alright as he shows Keith in first and Rachel in fourthin the Ringmaster event. Check his post about opinions about moving up in stunt. Looks like Shug did good also. Now that I've side tracked your post, I like the looks of the new Ringmaster. H^^

Don't knock it 'til you try it Crist, the Fazer gear works great for almost any .25 to .40 size profile. y1

Thanks Randy.
To be honest I stole the colors and trim scheme idea and loosely based it on Matt Younkin's Twin Beech and Decathalon. I found the graphic fonts on one of the sites you told me about way back. The colors are Brodak Jet Black and Madrid Red. The Madrid Red is a great color, really bright, almost to the point of turning orange. I thought the black and red would go well with the gloss black Fox on the nose and the gold chrome/black graphics tie in with the gold anodized head, muffler and spinner nut.
I consider this Ringmaster scheme an example of less is more, like model designs from this time period should look. ;D

I agree. But even better if you narrow the legs a 1/4" or so on the TE. I also like the paint scheme & graphics...a lot. H^^ Steve

The picture of the Beech 18 reminded me strongly of one of my favorite air racers of the '30's, the Travelair Model R "Mystery Ship". Not many 1:1 scale aeroplanes were prettier than that one. y1 Steve
