I've been using APC and MAS props to tune the LA46 on my Tanager. The MAS was a real clunker but I got it running good with an APC 12.25X3.75 big heavy wide blade but seems to be the prop everyone recommends. It had basically no break and was almost too lean in maneuvers and seemed kinda hot after the flight. This set up worked well but was boarder line.

Then I put on the TT Cyclone 11x4.5 and wow, almost a night and day difference. I was able to open the needle valve and still go the same air speed. That 4.5 pitch really hits the sweet spot with a 2.65 venturi on 10% nitro. It had more break and better power in maneuvers and the engine wasn't burning hot after the flight. Can't wait to try one on my Brodak 40/Banshee which currently has a big porky bolly clubman.  Glad I got a 6 pack of these.

Try opening your venturi to about .275 and you'll have a much easier and broader power band and ease of selection of a broader range of props!  The volumetric efficiency of a .46 size engine with that tiny venturi is really pinched!
15% nitro will then really open your eyes!

The  12.5 x 5.5  works  really well on the 60s , and  51s , It gets the  ST 60  above 9000  RPMs at launch, and this translates into  very good thrust and wind performance,  without going over the higher RPM range that tends  to get the  ST 60 to beat its self to death, and kill  rods.
The  11 x 4.5  works  so well on so many motors, and  it is  really  GOOD on the  LA 46 , Just enough load, makes for a much broader needle, and pulls great in calm and  winds

On a Tanager, you might be surprised how well a 10-4 APC works. The APC 12.25-3.75 is the prop everyone recommends for a larger, heavier model, like 60 to 65 ounce full bodied models 600 squares or larger,  not a lighter, 35. size profile.
