Title: New projects on the horizon
Post by: RC Storick on August 20, 2015, 11:15:34 AM
Along with the 12 plane painting tutorial I will be building in its entirety a Al Rabe BBQ B Bearcat. I will just let the video run for hours showing the molding process and etc..

OMG!  I have always wanted to build one of Mr. Rabes fabulous airplanes, but lack of skill and personal fortitude has kept me from embarrassing myself!  I will be watching that and the painting tutorials very carefully.  Thanks for the tutorials you do and the fine forum. H^^

Are you going to build the Bearcat from an Umland  short kit?

I've always thought it would be super cool to take the Rabe Bearcat, put a lower canopy on it, and paint it up like "Rare Bear". If I thought I could do the build justice I'd have already done it. C'mon Sparky, you can do it! S?P

Either way, I'll be watching the build with great interest. y1

The hard part about doing a Bearcat as Rare Bear is picking which paint scheme you want to do! It's had several over the years, but I would agree that it would one of my first choices. Kieth Trostle beat me to the punch with a Gulfhawk version, but still might do one someday. Gots lots of irons to get out of the fire first.
   Type at you later,

These photos are from the last scheme before the 'Bear's current one, shows the exhaust and oil residue after a heat race. This is how REAL airplanes look right after a flight! VD~

Dan is right, the 'Bear has had quite a few different paint schemes in it's long and colorful history. Thinking C/L Stunt though, the current Purple/Orange/White would be very hard to beat both in the air and on the flight line. y1
