I am working on new projects for flying. I have the Top Flite Combat Streak that I am cloning. I would like to build the profile Flite Streak to go along with it. Looking at plans it looks like every thing is almost the same except for the fuselage. If some has a full size drawing for the side view of he profile Streak I sure would like a copy of it. My address is at bottom of this post. H^^

I'm willing to bet a dollar against a dozen donuts that the profile is the same outline as the combat streak, just add a canopy of your own liking. Should serve the purpose???
Type at you later,

Hello Doc,
If you like, I will happily send you a simple
drawing of the profile fuselage and any details you
might want from from one of my two combat streaks.
Yes! The wing of the Combat Streak is identical to
the profile FliteStreak, except for the hole in the center
sheeting where the push rod exits. You might want to
re-position the bellcrank.
The FliteStreak came with half size plans. I have them
and several fuselages to measure. Just say the word
and I'll post the info.
Cheers! - Keith
P.S. You should seriously consider mounting the
tank on the inside of the profile fuselage.
It works great and solves many issues.

You may be able to enlarge these …
I offer plans for both enlarged to Full Size; the Combat Streak has a longer nose.

Hello again Doc,
I dragged a few planes out of the museum
and compared a 1957 FliteStreak to a 1970
FliteStreak and to a 1967 Combat Streak.
These measurements are for the profile Streak.
The fuselage is cut from 1/2" x 2.75" stock and
is 24.0 " long overall. I checked this on three planes.
The top edge is straight from nose to the elevator
hinge line.
The bottom edge is almost straight for 10" from the nose
until it begins to taper to 2.25" at 2.0" from the elevator
hinge line. Make it a gentle curve.
The tail moment, from T.E. to elevator hinge line
is consistent at 10.5 " for all three planes.
( Not measured from the fixed flaps )
The nose length from L.E. to the end of the maple mounts
is 4.5" but the Fox .35 is mounted forward for balance.
From the L.E. to the engine cut-out is only 2.5" .
The canopy is cut from 3/8" balsa and is 9" x 1.25" high.
The thing to know about the canopy is that G.M.A. intended it
to be a vibration sink and reinforcement for the nose so be sure
to mount it at least as forward as the design suggests..
I hope this helps Doc.. You should be able to draw a quick
outline with this but if you need more info, please ask.
Cheers!

I have the kit plans and have looked on Outerzone. I guess center the engine on the profile of the Combat Streak. How many noticed that the elevator, wing and engine are positive incendence to the top straight potion of the fuselage sides of the Combat Streak and also looks the same on the profile. I never noticed that when I built the Flite Streak when it first came out. Was also the quickest turning plane I had at that time many, many years ago. Hard to believe it has been that many years. Had my one and only 35 size engine at that time, a McCoy Redhead .35(the $10.00 one). So I guess I will use the Combat Streak Fuselage side for a pattern. D>K
Oh, thanks for the response gentlemen. H^^

Doc,
Looking at the plans for both, the stab is parallel to the center line of the wing. The top of the fuse rises up to the front of the stab, but then flattens out.

The top of the straight portion of the fuse is not parallel to the Wing, stab and engine. D>K

FWIW: I've almost been afraid to look at Flite Streak tail feathers for fear they'll break … how many times have you seen the stabilizer come off even in a rough landing? My solution has been to mount the stabilizer on a Streak or Junior Streak about 1/2" below the top of the fuselage, so there's some "meat" (thick balsa) both above and below the surface. It's worked really well for me - no obvious difference in flight characteristics, and a very marked improvement in durability.
And you can set whatever angle you want (zero please) between the wing and stabilizer center lines.

John, I have the Flite Streak kit and I'd be happy to trace & send you the fuselage pattern.
BTW, thanks for the Fox decals, which are now on my tool box.

Sure would save me a head ache. Constructing leading edges like I did for Ringmasters. A lot of pieces to cut but I have a lot of time. My address should be at bottom of my post, just add USA behind it. D>K

Doc,
We had a similar discussion at our field after I finished a Super Combat Streak and brought it out. One of the guys insisted that the plans for his regular streak were messed up because of the incidence. Here's what I concluded:
1. I built mine from a Walter Umland kit. The plans were by Barry Baxter with updates by Bob Kruger. The engine thrust line, wing centerline and horizontal stab are all parallel. The upper fuse surface is straight, but rises from the nose to the tail. The lower surface of the fuse is curved until about the middle of the wing, then rises in a straight line back to the tail.
2. The cottage industry kit plans from the standard Flight Streak that we compared were pretty fuzzy, but also showed the same geometry. On that one, our buddy didn't realize the tail was not in line with the top of the fuse but could see that the fuse rose up going aft--so he was convinced that the design had negative incidence in the tail. He was upset about it to the point that he didn't want to build it.
You aren't the only one that might have gotten bitten by the incidence issue.
Good luck with yours,
Dave
Here's mine getting ready for paint.

John, fuselage tracing is in the mail today. Delivery may be somewhat delayed due to our current rotating postal strike.
-
Dave, hope mine looks that nice. All I remember about the first Flite Streak of mine was it was built box stock and was very maneuverable compared to the other planes I had at the time. D>K

Something you might consider if you are flying on pavement or smooth grass is substituting a Peacemaker-style landing gear into your Combat Streak. I like how that turned out on mine. Along with the tail wheel, now I can land and roll out, but I can also easily launch from a stooge.
Best luck with yours,
Dave
