Sounds like a good plan. The SV22 planform and airfoil is definitely a good one.
Of course Profiles never seem to have the same potential as a built up fuselage due to the difficulty (or impossibility) of making the link between the wing and the stab stiff enough (read rear of the fuselage). This problem seems to multiply as the airplane gets larger and the wind blows stronger.
Please understand I'm not being critical it sounds like you are likely fully aware of this problem since your intention is to use them for practice.
I have a kit built profile Cardinal that I use for the same purpose and in reasonable conditions it flies as good as anything I've ever built. When the wind blows, like it does in most contest conditions however, the limitations of the fuselage show themselves.
It would be interesting to use one of these in Profile Expert here in Tucson. Just might try it!
