New plane: The Neptune
« on: June 12, 2018, 06:02:35 AM »
What happens when you repair a wing for a flying buddy and then he doesn't want it?  "Nope!" says he, "I've given up on profiles".  The wing in question being from a Cardinal profile he built from scratch.  He elongated a vertical eight in the wrong direction (or something like that.)

Well, you use it in a club build of Cardinal Evo 40s!  (Obvious, right?)

And, of course, I had to "improve" the looks of the Evo by making the plane a tribute to the I-beamers of olden days.  An I-beamer-less I-beamer tribute plane (got that?)

So, I present for your approval: "The Neptune"

Thanks Joseph!

Nobody does stinger tails anymore.  I sorta like them.

Very nice looking plane and I hope it flies s well as it looks.    The stinger tail and spinner  made cleaning of planes easier I was told one time.   I know the tail end of the HOBO makes for ease of work and cleaning.   Yes it is back in one piece and awaits test flights. D>K

Doc:

Thanks!  It has an LA-46 running a Zinger-Pro 12-4 prop.  52 ounces.  I couldn't find landing gear wide enough to suit my tastes so I made my own ala The Stunt Machine.

I may be in trouble on the tank.  It is 4 1/2 ounces.  I'm starting with a .281 venturi.  My P-51B is using 5 ounces with LA-46 and Xoar 12-4 prop, but is using a .300 venturi.  I'll test fly after returning from Brodaks.

Thanks Randy!

I just hate building anything "standard".  I need to do another one with an I-beam wing to go with that stinger tail....

Thanks Wayne!

I'm going to have to improve my current pilot recruitment program.  This guy looks pretty sad - resigned to his fate: "Richlen is flying me.  I'm going to die.  Oh well....."

I need a pilot with more kamikaze spirit: "Yes, Richlen is flying me.  Banzia!!!"  Yeah, more like that.
