Here is a pic of my new plane. I tried to get it ready for the nats but didnt make it in time.
It is essentially another geo bear with different tips full span flaps and .25" wider fuse.
I pulled the paint scheme from the real Riff Raff. You can see the artwork below.
What you see here weighs 39.25oz. Should be a good flying weight for this size plane. Should be very similar to the other one.

Nice paint scheme.. and the Modle looks good too.
Is that a seafury..the original that is..
-
Doug,
That is just what you need. The paint scheme makes the airplane stand out! Keep up the good work.. Now it's to the Worlds, and/or 1st at the 2010 Nats!

I really like it......where did you get the canopy ??
-
The real Riff Raff is a Sea Fury.
The Canopy is just a sig 12" bubble trimmed to fit. Painted black on the inside before installation.
(You dont have to paint it black on the inside first. I did because I thought I would just go black and that is an easy way to get very even coverage. Picked it up off the RC car guys and how they paint their car bodies. You can just paint it black on the outside just before the metallic colors.)
Just before painting the plane I sand it with 600 so it has the same surface as the rest of the plane.
Then I tape it off and mist on some silver and then some metallic blue.
The clear coat makes it really sparkle in the sun light.

Looks good man! hope to see you again soon. Maybe at the TT........

Really looks good Doug. Got a test flight date target?
-
Looks great Doug! What motor you going to put in it?
-
Dont have a test flight date yet. I only have one motor and right now, PA 65, it is in my nats plane. Sucks having only one motor.
I didnt mess with it much yesterday, still letting the clear really harden up. I did go out and look at it lots of times though... #^ I know I cant be the only one who finds reasons to go out and look at the newly finished model.... n~

That's looking really sweet! Ought to show up well in the air too.

Is that anything like going to the field with one prop? LL~ (really enjoyed tales from the Moon Bro's) You have probably done the most with the least compared to a lot of people . I bet most people at the Nat's that made top 20 brought at least a spare engine, pipe, prop, lines, etc etc etc. You most certainly proved it's about quality not quantity! (though spares really are a good idea, soon as you can swing one)

You are most certainly not alone! Kinda like when you get a new car and just have to go look out in the driveway the next morning. #^
At least I know I still do...

Doug,
The Riff Raff looks really nice! Get it going and get to the TT; you and Derek need to push each other hard - someone needs to beat Orestes! %^@

Doug,
Looks like you beat me to the punch. I have been wanting to paint a plane using the Riff Raff paint scheme for some time now. Just finished the white on my F-Twister and getting ready to paint the red.
Nice job! Hope to see it in person sometime.
