I "surely" hope that I'm not divulging any top secrets...But! Everyone needs to contact Les McDonald and wish him well on his latest endeavor with "new parts."

Nothing so manly as titainium stuff but I am the new owner of a Medtronic A2DR01 PaceMaker.
The good news is that I'm alive the bad news is that I still don't feel like I'm twelve years old.
There are folks here with far greater health issues than mine so please concentrate on them, I'm gonna be fine!
(However, if you feel some need to donate money I could easily set up some sort of an account towards a new motorcycle)
I see people my age out there climbing mountains and zip lining and here I am feeling good about myself because I got my leg through my underwear without losing my balance

Welcome to the Bionic world. I am on my third pacemaker. I couldn't believe how much better I felt after my first implant. I am almost due for my fourth unit. My concern now is the wires.

Isn't modern medicine great! Many of us have "parts" in us that keep us alive. I have titanium in my neck now that without I'm sure I wouldn't be here now. You now have fancy electronics helping your ticker.

Glad you are well and feeling better.

Wow Les, at least you are running new parts. I just get used stuff. I got a doner valve in my aorta and they could not find anyone running down the hall at the hospital to get a vein from so they took one out of my own leg to fix one in my heart. That was 2 years ago in March and I am doing great with no blood thinners other than an aspirin a day. The mechanic, er surgeon, that did the valve job said I should be good for another 100,000 miles if I don't run wide open all the time. Fat chance of that. Compared to what I use to do I just kind of run around just above idle now.

I certainly missed the call on this one.  HB~> To me, new parts means hip and knee joints, since everyone I know in my age group had theirs done.

Best wishes and many, many more years for Les! BW@

I have a Medtronic too. Wait til you go for the 6 month check and they tell you there was an event on say Jan 21st and again on Mar 3rd etc. No problems, just a fast heartbeat. That little rascal keeps track! I asked her if she was tracking my sex life?? "No and the batteries are good for 11 more years". An amazing device.

Hey Les,
If you go with rechargables don't use just any cheapo Lipo's...
cause if one of those bad boys overloads you'll have some serious heartburn.  j1

So , I guess no micro wave oven repairs in your line of work???  H^^ LL~ LL~
Ty,
The "microwave thing" went away years ago. These new ones will go through just about anything, BUT, like most electronics you do need some "situational awareness", especially when it comes to magnets. For me something like laying across the gas tank of a sport bike, at speed, with a magnetic tank bag could possibly end badly so some lifestyle concessions need to be made.
At least, right now, Pacemakers aren't "connected" to something like OnStar. Just imagine some little geek hacking into your heart. It's one thing for them to turn on your house lights, unlock your car or even turn off your refrigerator but I'm afraid the day may come when these dweebs can actually jack around inside our bodies. Just call me old fashioned but I do appreciate SOME of the new technology.

Pacemaker cases are tig welded titanium. I can post a pic of one later. It may still have some blood on it.

A fellow on another forum said that he was sitting on his front porch discussing his new pacemaker with a friend when some sweet young thing walked by...and his garage door opened.  ;D

Good luck with your pacemaker Les!
